IME Ariat outer wear runs small and they over state the water resistance. I've only worn their official US team gear when we wear in England, but I i wouldn't say it allowed for layering. Thank God I had my Kerrits and DH was head to toe in real Gortex.

I did it that way to with same results :) DH's family always cooked their turkey in a roaster oven and he was very happy that I finally, FINALLY, came around to doing in the right way LOL!

I have both and prefer the first one because easy one handed operation. Regardless, they need to be out of horses' reach. WAY out of horses' reach.
Make sure ALL your wiring is run in conduit, no exposed romex, I don't care how out of reach it is.

I wouldn't worry about dirt sticking to ointment, it's the way of it. Maybe keep his legs wrapped for a while with ointment on? Neosporin or some such. Those scabs will be more comfortable and will heal/come off sooner if you can keep them softened.

I know nothing of chiggers, we don't have them, but panalog ointment (not cream) is my go to for nasty bug bites on animal or human.

Ah, I don't have to go near Vallejo thank goodness. But yes, I recall the last time I took horsed from Walnut Creek to Sonoma horse park thinking "I really REALLY need to charge more for this trip". Of course the long road into SHP is probably the worst part ;)

California vehicle code 22406 states that trailers must stay in the right hand lane on the highway (except for passing) unless there are four or more lanes going the same direction then they may travel in the second lane from the right.

A fun forest running quad won't have the lower gearing appropriate for slow heavy work like dragging a ring unless drag is very light. Super for poop runs and feeding though.
