Mine doesn't sit that long often but it occasionally does. Never had a problem with it starting.

Re: What on earth happened to me today?
PTSD. If you had gone through a similar experience to what happened with Steele with the loss of a human friend, not a horse, most people would expect you to have traumatic flashbacks triggered by similar situations. That you lost a horse and not a human does not make the emotional trauma to you any...

Post Thankgiving dinners? We're having Eggs Roosevelt, cause that's what they used to call it when it was part of the Sunday brunch at our long closed favorite restaurant "T.R.'s" as in Teddy Roosevelt's. The fishaterian couple at last night's Friendsgiving grilled some really really fabul...

Annual Friendsgiving :) Dinner at my friend's house, she's a dressage rider who used to be a client of a barn I managed, that's how we met. It will be her, her SO who is charming and horsey educated, another friend who is an event rider and her very nice DH, and an assortment of her other friends. M...

Re: My Horse is a Wimp
When I turn Freeway out for the night this time of year, it's often a touch too warm for a blanket. Remember, I live in the Bay Area ;) Once the sun goes down and the night chill comes on, I'll look over and see him waiting at the pasture gate. I take his blanket up, put it on him, and off he goes, ...

M&M, I'd give you the recipe for Iced Pumpkin Bars but they're from the Moosewood Dessert Cookbook and I would be drawn and quartered if I posted copyrighted material. Did you mean spiced pumpkin bars? I have that cookbook (you made me pull it out ;) ) and that's the only pumpkin bar lis...

Forfar Bridies, our weekly "Outlander Dinner", which I was missing along with the show and the weather tonight is a bit Scottish :) I make them with ground sirloin, and I cheat and use store bought puff pastry. http://www.food.com/recipe/forfar-bridies-cooks-illustrated-370004 After readin...

Favorite un or lightly insulated barn coat that is REALLY waterproof?
Like, Goretex waterproof, not horse clothing brand waterproof? IME, these are two different things That said, I do have a Kerrits coat that I wore for a solid hour in a Northern England downpour and it help up. But it's much too pretty to wear for chores.

Domestic goddess cleaning question
Life on the farm, first real rain of the year, thoughts turn to things I've ignored through the long summer. Paperwork, paddock maintenance, window tracks. Those of you who don't have a repository of dirt and the odd dead bug in your window and sliding glass door tracks, how do you accomplish this? ...

Re: Compression Fractures/Kyphoplasty
8 years ago I had a burst compression fracture of L1, fairly severe, was in hospital 4 days then was in full brace/bed rest for 4 months. L1 is as Dragonfly says, now a triangle ;) Neurosurgeon was blessedly conservative, he told my husband "I am a surgeon, it is my job to cut, it is also the l...

Re: Suggestions for driving bit?
Well my horse is about as far from your pony as can be ;) but based on what you've described…I'd try a mullen mouth Liverpool and hook the lines on a rough cheek or first slot setting. Glory and arch mouth are different than mullen, so may not feel the same to her. Also, of course, make sure she's n...

Additions and subtractions, we now have THREE German Shedders with the relatively recent addition of the hellspawn puppy who is just over a year old...

Good lord silk, I hope you're OK? At least (If there's an at least) it doesn't look like your pretty face was damaged, just that the horse attempted to decapitate you with a dull object?

Great idea redsox but BFF has a Great Dane and two pit mixes so even though there will be a veterinarian at the party, I'd rather the only blood at the party be fake blood LOL!

Anyone dressing up for Halloween?
In a non-horsey situation that is?
My BFF the younger has recently bought a house and is throwing herself a housewarming Halloween party. I should go, I should go in costume, I'm so uninspired!
