To have a dear horse like yours go peacefully is a blessing. To have your mother there for her was even nicer for your mare. I'm very sorry for your loss, it's the saddest part of having horses.

I was told recently at a Talbots that cotton will shrink up in length, but not in width. Whether this is true or not, I haven't a clue. I would think it would depend on which way the material was cut on the bias. ( It's been years since I have sewn, so hopefully "bias" was the right word.)

When possible, especially with a young or flighty horse, I try to crosstie them where they will back into a wall rather than an open aisle. It seems to give them a better idea of the space available.
