Re: Strengthening the Canter
Shorten your reins, and sit back. Think withers up every stride, and keep your canter spurts to manageable lengths. I usually do 20 stridesand then a transition to let the horse take a break and get reorganized before going again. start teaching the halfhalting outside rein in baby steps in the cant...

FREEEDOOOMMM! I'm out! I'm back!!
Yay! Hi guys! so I am doing so much better they discharged me from the full care lockdown hospital I had been in all this time,to let me live at my cousin's house until I'm 100% and can live on my own. Haven't seen Coal Harbour in over a year, and you can imagine how difficult it is for me to have h...

How about this? You just have to keep yourself busy in the meantime. Maybe lease something or rehab a rescue?

Re: May & June Goals & Progress
I like CC-trot-CC on a circle, too. It makes it very clear for Emi that she must wait for my aids. I am also a fan of a bit of forward/back in CC so that they don't get too stuck (but really, that is my horse's issues, so I do that). Emi responds to CC work with very good energy---it both wakes her...

Re: Straight hind leg versus appearance
The photos are not perfect for evaluating the hind leg joints, but yes, the legs do look a touch straight. It doesnt always mean straight legs: straight moving or swinging instead of articulating though. My mare that I got in Germany (now sold) has slightly straight hind legs but articulated beautif...

I don't know...I have /had two of those horses at the same time, and I am not super wealthy. I sold one. I kept the other, nicer one. it costs just as much to pay board for a $75k horse than it does for a $500 horse. When the opportunity to buy what you really want is there, why not go for it? beca...

Hey Guys! I am finally out of hospital, but transferred to a more long term facility. I should only be here for a month or two though, just for DBT and ECT treatment. I have my own room and bathroom, its quite cute, but the facility itself is a lockdown facility not unlike a jail i suspect. cold, ec...

I really like Glamourdale out of this group. What's his temperament like? He has Negro in there, and the Negro babies I have known of (including my own) are incredibly personable and easy to work with. I like Negro's conformation too, so he's another option. As much as I Love Connaisseur, he's a lo...

I'll never be able to mount up from the ground. Harbour is 17.3
I don't think there is anything I cannot solve, he's not shown any hint of an issue like that.

Have you ever found full siblings to your horse? How similar/dissimilar are they?
I have found two full siblings to my own gelding, and certainly there are some big similarities, but what's curious are the differences from one to the next. I was so intrigued when my Google search came up with the videos, I thought it would be a very interesting topic. Anyone have a similar experi...

I realize that I have not taken a break for more than say 4 days in almost 8 yrs besides one month when I was home sick (like sick from work for a month straight) and except when he was actually hurt. The *Perfect* Dressage Horse (Physically). Your Examples?
Just a light thread. I've been thinking a lot over the years of what physically makes the perfect dressage specimen. Form vs function, etc. What/who say you? from angles to size to breed to weight. Love to have some debate

Junior's got a great shape. You're right that trails can do wonders for sorting out contact and things - there's much more natural forward energy and it's so productive for the mind.
