Re: Needlefelting project
Yes, I found one tutorial where the artist added metal just to support the legs, after she built the body. It really only matters if you want your project to stand up (and/or if you want thinner legs). Some people wrap pipe cleaners around the metal to help the wool stick, I’m going to try that next...

Re: Needlefelting project
Some people build a frame with wire to felt around, I did not do that with the first two, but I’m trying it with this small one, it will make it more posable, and I should be able to make thbelega thinner, but so far I don’t like how you end up hitting the wire with the felting needle. (You can see ...

No kit. I had a fiber arts friend show me how to do it, its not difficult, It’s like building a sculpture out of clay. Only you stab the wool with this long needle to mold the parts. You can add little rolled up bits of the wool to build up areas, you want the finished thing to be fairly firm. The f...

it’s not hard to do - though this one took me awhile, since it was only the second time I’ve tried it. It’s very fun, I haven’t stabbed myself yet (you put your project down on a fat piece of foam and felt into that for the most part, though I had to hold it to do the details. Hardest part was figur...

Re-learning needlefelting. This is Buddy the mini, I used a lock of hair from his mane for the forelock, mane and tail. I’m going to put some beads and a little nameplate on the string (he’s a hanging ornament). https://s26.postimg.org/8j2lm2xm1/42276567-4_ECB-40_AF-_A899-2958_AA8142_E2.jpg https://...

A week of riding camp at Golden Green Stables in Urbana, Illinois. Close to 50 years ago. I remember trying to learn to post on a mule named Kate, and going on trail rides on a horse called Sawdust who would pull the reins out of my hands to eat grass. I remember my mom sending me with lunches if bo...

I loved my Spirograph! I spend hours using it, was always so frustrating when you were almost to the end of the pattern and you pushed your pen a little too hard and the gear it was in slipped out of the teeth and screeched across the paper! I found a small spirograph stocking stuffer a few years ag...

Oh wow, those stones are so pretty, Kande! There is a really cool app (free) for the ipad called Amaziograph. Spin off from “Where is everybody” and “The Making of a painting” The whole keeping the horses at home and taking care of the farmette has been a little overwhelming. I love it, but I don’t feel like I have a lot of time for other stuff, like art. Here is a little of what I’ve managed since we moved...

Our mini started growing his winter coat the beginning of August! Rico has just started shedding his summer coat. I sure hope he grows a thick coat this year, he was in a heated barn (50 degrees) last year, and he'd didn't grow much of one, and it got to -24 degrees outside. No heated barn this year!
