*Some say Prelim is only 3'7" and so basic that like only wussies could fail. So why are the Prelim classes empty with 2 divisions at P compared to 6 at T, and 5 at N? Because that is baloney even for BN. Eventing, even at the lower levels is challenging and not all horses can do it. Prelim is...

Re: Thinking about using a buyer's agent

Remind me, are you looking for a dressage horse, or a hunt/event/all-rounder? Because a friend from college breeds very nice draft crosses in the St Louis area (Bluefield Sporthorses), and some of her babies have done well at BN/N eventing and in the hunt field. I’m still kicking myself for passing ...

I would look at a TB that never trained for the track and wasn’t started before 3, yes. Only if it is sporthorse need, not race bred. The worst horse I ever had I bought as a basically un-started 4 year old. He had been very lightly started to race, but never made it to the track. In contrast to a ...

Hi Bip. Can I ask what you are rehabbing from Lyme? Lyme is associated with intermittent moving lamenesses as far as I know. If they are cured with antibiotics the lamenesses disappear. My horse had Lyme and I really had nothing to rehab. I realize all cases are different. I know, it is bizarre. Fi...

I would say the danger range for eventers is $15-25k, with the WBs falling at the top of that range. It’s obscene.

(It’s not necessarily obscene that horses cost that much or more, but rather that horses with serious problems are priced that way).

It’s such a tricky situation because if it catches your eye and then doesn’t sell quickly, there’s probably something wrong with it. But not necessarily! And you can’t magically make there be nothing wrong with it by buying it quickly.
