Glad she is getting better each day. She should never ride that mare again. I doubt if, even when she is better physically, she will want to swing a leg over.

Re: What do you have around your house from the old BB?

I have wonderful memories of staying at Chancellor's and going to a UDBB get together. While there, I met Scruffy and Thursday Next, and mwatikns, Val, and several other UDBB members whose handles I don't remember! That was a fun time and I wish I lived closer. I didn't usually take part in the gift...

My gelding never dropped, except partially only when he peed, and never any other time, for the 19 years I had him. It was just his preference and he lived a long and healthy life.

You have to look hard at trusts. They have both pros and cons and they are not for everyone. Of course you would be discussing this sort of thing with an estate attorney so don't ask me for specifics of the pros and cons because I don't remember!

Re: Question for those mid-40s and older.

Your weight is affected by your diet about 80%. 20% exercise. From what I have read, if you keep up with weights you should have the same muscle mass as you get older as you did when you were in your 30ies. You really have to work at it though, or you will lose it. Gaining 20 pounds in a short amoun...

In NY probate is cheap and quick. Even if you don't have a will, there is a succession defined, so you don't need a lawyer to declare you an an heir. For instance, if you only have one parent left and there is no will, and then that parent dies, you and your siblings are the heirs. Everything that h...

I don't personally know your horse, but - this is just me - I would not trailer a horse that age 4 hours one way for a weekend of lessons. He may be fit but he is still an older gentleman. You checked with the vet though, so you did your due diligence. No judgement from me on that. It's just not som...

No shavings, no wraps - actually I never put anything on my horses's legs for trailering. I had a stock trailer with nice rubber matting. It's easier to hose out the trailer than it is to sweep out shavings, IMO.

Well, no one has mentioned a GMC Sierra, but I found a model year 2000 used one in 2002 with low miles and absolutely loved it. It was a 2500HD 4x4 with an 8 foot bed and a V8 6.0L gas engine. It hauled my 2 horse bumper pull with dressing room like it wasn't even back there. Awesome truck.
