I've got a birthday coming up and i realised I said 10 years ago that I should be doing GP easily by now! Ha
Guess I'd better keep working on that!
Truly my only goal is chipping away at those pirouette things.

Yeah, my guy chucked in lots of extra changes when I started doing medium level. They just start trying a bit hard and offering it when you don't need it :) I didn't practice them too much leading up to a comp. As for the late behind, I was having trouble on one side and it was my instructor that pi...

It's taken me AGES to understand that I get my horses rounder by allowing my hands 'up and forward'. I have to say to myself 'up and forward', 'up and forward'. I always want to drop my hands and pull them back. My instinct to do that is strong and I'll admit, I have to fight it hard!

I don't think there's any coming back from how dressage is now. As Khall said, the breeding is big business to create horses with these gaits already there. I often wonder if I should keep pushing Ding along to compete, he's not got that natural ability at all. But I'm never going to afford a specia...

Here's some vid of Ding - still chipping away at piaffe/passage. I do find it a bit hard without someone on the ground to help out, and definitely the trans out doesn't work yet. I'm also a bit confused at the aid for the trans? Anyway, feel free to critique.

I agree Demi and while it's not the ideal posture being BTV, it's a far cry from the leaning back hauling a horses face into it's chest like extreme Rolkur.
I find it's as you described in your second paragraph, it's not static, it's always working it out.

That’s very expensive!!
We tend to do it the povo way here and I can go to a show for under $150 (not including fuel).
However my membership fees to do official classes on 2 horses is at least $320 per year.

My horse is the same. Takes a little while to get him going and by the end of the session he is lovely. I aim for about 20 - 25mins to get to that point where the forwardness is starting to happen. If it's hot, I have to drop it to 10 -15.
