I'm on the side of not bothering with xrays, etc. As several vets have told me, they've seen horses with terrible x-rays stay sound forever and vice versa. You have the advantage of having a relationship with Miss A for several months. I know it's not pleasant worrying about ending up with an unride...

My sister and BIL live in northern New Hampshire, and they have a log home. It is wonderful - warm in winter and cool in summer. They heat about 2,500 sq. ft. with a pellet stove that does a great job. Before the pellet stove, they heated with a propane fireplace. I wouldn't hesitate to get one!

Congratulations, PaulaO! This show sounds like the perfect situation for Ariel's and your debut. I was going to show Ranger at a local schooling show in March, but a clinic I would like to attend opened up, so we're going there. Looks like our debut is postponed until April. They're supposed to be, but, so far, I haven't been able to do it. They come with instructions on how to do it, but I'm not having much luck. The BM can do it. I don't have a lot of strength in my hands.

Because the owner isn't well, we put it in the sales contract that she could visit him. We don't see her often, but this happened to be one of the weekends she asked to see him.

Thank you all for your comments. I did stay, and we had a great time and a safe trip home. He is the perfect horse to trailer. After this, though, I.probably won't do it again. I will.confine any travelling to local.

Regardless of the location of the nearest tack store (Murphy's Law: they're always closed when you need them), I agree with what everyone says about having two of each - sheet, medium weight, and heavy weight. That way, you have a spare. What has Miss A had in the past?

Glad to hear Ariel is okay. This is a perfect example of why having your horse at a good barn is so important if you can't have them at home. Kudos to the barn staff - and good for you for not panicking. Ahh, the joys of owning a horse:-)

Bought the Gatorbootz. Have been using a couple of weeks. I like the way they fit. Definitely won't come unfastened! Now, have to see how long they last.

Trainers who come to you

Just curious to know what you are experiencing in your area, but it seems to me that trainers who come to you are starting to be a thing of the past. I understand that it takes time to drive from farm to farm, but I'm sure there are a lot of people out there w/o transportation. What's your experience?

I have an acquaintance in the horse world who is pretty conservative. One of her friends posted that "the B left is incapable of tolerance." - this, from the party that wants to build a wall and deport everyone!
