Several years ago, I had the good fortune of taking many lessons with him. In this picture, I am being longlined by the master.
Rest in peace Karl!

A loss to the world of dressage. My sympathies to his family and friends.

He could bring out the best in them!
Re: Karl Mikolka has died
Working with Karl was THE highlight of my riding career. I will remember and use his exercises for the rest of my riding life.

Thank you Wicky for posting this. I will unfortunately, not be in the area. I am in Vienna.
Re: Karl Mikolka has died
I read that there will be a memorial Mass for Karl at St. Stephen's Cathedral in Vienna as well. Do not know when or if it will coincide with the one in Gloucester.
I will say that I know, without a doubt, that Karl passed peacefully and is at peace.

Re: Karl Mikolka has died
I am in vienna now. I can't find anything which says there will be a mass here. But if you see something, please let me know.
Re: Karl Mikolka has died
Hi Chance - the mass will be on June 22 in Vienna. Today's mass was small but meaningful. There were a few of Karl's students in attendance, and some lovely memories told by one of his Gloucester friends. Lynn played a lovely piece on the piano, with a wonderful clarinet accompanying her. Most people probably don't know that Karl played the piano and the French Horn, was an accomplished martial artist, archer, and target shooter. And he took ballet lessons! Body control is so important for dressage.... We will miss him.
