Things rarely overheard at the barn...

Postby Chisamba » Thu May 12, 2016 11:02 pm

" I had a gelding once, but he was so fresh, I'll never get another. It's mares for me from now on "

( and yet you hear it the other way so often)

" white breeches are so flattering, I love them "

" I don't need anything at the tack store"

:D please add to the list

I'm so glad my horse is a complete mudball, by the time I finish grooming I won't have time to ride!

"Oh, how cute! He was standing in the driveway waiting for me this evening!" (Got home last night to find all 16hh of Walker had apparently shimmied under the electric fence on his quest for spring grass...)

Sometimes you have to beat them off with a stick.

Yeah, our barn is a little more sophisticated. Everyone is trained to run like the wind if someone is having trouble loading.

So, probably a better answer for those for this question is, "Sure, I'd love to have the advice of a stranger with a carrot stick and a flickitating twirly rope while I'm trying to load my 1700 pound jumper."

Or in the corner of the arena.

Or how about, "I'm so glad the pigeons have started nesting in the indoor again."

Or, "My horse loves the other end of the indoor where we store stuff."

I say a version of this when my 4 year old insists on coming out to the barn with me when I plan on having a nice, solid training session.

I love it when it's time to bale and put up hay!

I was actually overheard once in the loft while putting up hay repeating to myself "it's cool up here and the bales are light" but it was more that I was trying to convince myself
