Mixing bit materials

Postby LTison » Fri Jun 01, 2018 10:53 pm

Is there any problem mixing bit materials? I have a neue Schule Bradoon and tried a stainless Weymouth together. She did not seem to like it! I did not ride her in it. Just put it in her mouth. Was wondering if it’s like biting tinfoil over fillings!

Is there any problem with this?

In terms of showing, I don’t think so. My horse has a neue Schule Weymouth and a stainless baucher bradoon, it was no problem. I think my horse prefers stainless over others, though.

My guess is your horse didn’t like the bits, not material, unless you’ve seen the same reaction with either metal separately. I doubt using them together has an effect.

You get bits made of mixed materials so I don't think so.
