The weather here has been the opposite, extraordinarily mild. Potters got to work in the outdoor arena on Friday! Unheard of for February.

I'm still sniveling and coughing. This one is a doozy. I dont see myself having the strength to get back on, even in my currently reduced capacity, for a few days yet.

I stuck my SP notes on SF's thread.

Somehow it's already time for close out!

Walk 2-3 times a week
Find a better daily cadence for work days
Get trailer sorted
Get bedroom sorted

MM:
Continue getting her back in shape
Enjoy her

Start realistically exploring options for summer (I am considering looking for some place further north to send her at least for the summer months, but potentially longer than that. It breaks my heart, but if it's better for her, I will do it. I will keep her on my payroll so I can ensure she gets what she needs)

RP:
Introduce double bridle
Continue working on changes--start moving away from the high behind
Enter schooling show/attend clinic
Continue working on ease in lateral work

Close out from us - We are seeing beacons, not just a light at the end of the tunnel with both boys. I've now got Troy cantering under saddle and we did our first off the property trail ride today! Troy was really, really tired at the end of it but so well behaved. Junior is improving his canter quality. We have transitions within the canter. He is sitting more and he's becoming more reliably forward. He is still a P-O-N-Y but much more willing to sign up for the ride.

Such a beautiful backdrop Exvet.

I'm closing out mixed which is okay, this Jan/Feb has been really tough weather wise. Now just March/April and we'll be out swinging-

Section Goals:
-Trailer off property for lessons if/when able Once for clinic with trainer up from FL, not great and we are getting feral in our indoor
-Ability to maintain lower neck in the canter piro/steps Hahaha, no. This will carry over...
-5-6 consecutive 1-tempi’s (!!) An attempt at 5 this weekend, didn't carry the hinds through but did rhythm with front so normal progression for her

-Back on the treadmill, lol so to speak This because I wasn't able to ride and needed that physical movement destress
-Praise be to finally get to enjoy the damn bath This weekend marked completion!! It's glorious

Mixed month for me. The horses are doing great, and it's just me that's underperforming.

Ponichiwa wrote:Thanks for starting this thread! The goals threads are always my favorites on this board. Some lofty and impressive goals on the board already!

For me, the theme is more of the same:
- lose weight - mixed: fit into a goal outfit for USEF awards, and have backslid since
- exercise 5x/week - 4x max

Queso:
- level up the trot work to match the canter. Which means lots of shoulder in to medium to shoulder in, and lots of transitions everywhere. - lots of progress here although more to do especially in the mediums
- break 70% at level 5 western dressage at our show at the end of the month - sweet sweet success
- show 2nd or 3rd Level USDF by end of Feb - also successful; scores 60-65% under some tough judges.

For Dijon:
- install an unassisted/no groundsperson canter - let slide in favor of just taking it easy. Growing again!
- introduce basics of bending - work in progress
Stretch: turn on the forehand- started on this and some baby leg yielding.
