I went away from this thread without saying anything, then i came back. I was going to say nothing, then i decided that perhaps i can say something that might be of help. First, i want to say , I am sorry for your loss and sadness. Sadness is not always a bad thing, it shows us what is important to use. It is the flip side of happiness, how very sad you are at a loss is a measure of how very happy you were.
That said, sometimes we see portent and karma or signs or hand of god, in circumstances that are simply happenings. Bad things happen to good people. look at what happened, fix what you can, brush off what you cannot and do what it is that makes you happy.
The 21 of January just so happened to be the anniversary of the barn fire that took away my happy place. I try not to keep sad anniversaries, but I cannot avoid this one, because first thing in the morning i start to get texts and phone calls from my friends who shared in the tragedy. In the case of the fire, it happened only weeks after the death of a dear friend, from cancer. I did, for a while, think that God was trying to tell me to change something, give up, punish me , let me be honest, any number of very negative thoughts would hit me hard, and quite often.
i know that everyone is different, but my experience, after that, may help you in your troubles. Things happen, they are not your fault, they are not punishment, they are not signs, they are simply things that happen. Perhaps when something happens that really hurts, it may reveal to you some part of your self you have ignored for a while, like maybe changing something integral to you, but it is up to you decide what it is you want, what brings you joy, if it is time to give up, give up because you are tired and want to, not because of a tragedy, once you have reassessed what brings you a more complete self, then you throw out all the negatives, and go for it with gusto.
life is good, go for the gusto, find a piece of happiness in each day, even if you have to search for it.
