British National Theatre -- at your local movie theater

Postby Woost2 » Mon Nov 07, 2016 5:30 pm

Do folks know about this? Plays, starring all your favorite BBC actors, filmed live and broadcast to movie theaters around the world. I have been enjoying it greatly. Have managed to catch 4 or 5 a year.

Just search for a theater near you. http://ntlive.nationaltheatre.org.uk/

I missed some good ones this fall because of traveling, including Frankenstein with Benedict Cumberbatch and Jonny Lee Miller. Got a ticket for an encore presentation of War Horse in December. Missed it in the theater and had no interest in the film.

Thoroughly unhappy that No Man's Land with Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart is not coming to a theater near me. Maybe it will pop up eventually.

Yes, some friends and I want to see Hamlet, but it is not scheduled yet at any local movie theater. Said friends do go the live streams of the Met Opera, but that does not interest me.

We have live streams of the Met, as well. Because they are live, they can be a bit tricky with weather issues. Had the whole thing fail once. Because of thunder storms.

Great, isn't it?

As a bit of a trivial aside, my very first job was working for Peter Hall at the National Theatre, back in the early '80's. It was a unique experience...
