Confederate statue should also be removed for piss-poor riding
Confederate statue should also be removed for piss-poor riding
Maybe many of these statues can be removed on this basis and not have to trigger racists. There is no counterargument. LOL

Sure there is a counter argument. Rollkur is a valid training method.

Every time I glimpse a new statue my eye immediately goes to the horse — how pissed off is it?

lol,
there are all kinds of traditions about the horses in the statues, some are supposed to represent if the person was injured or killed in battle, some are supposed to represent winning or losing, sadly the horse rarely represents what it was, the soldiers greatest asset. I feel for the horses that were in wars. I think they should remove the generals if they want to ( although its just a statue) and leave the horses.

Chisamba - I have never heard of that tradition, interesting!
I agree that those Stone Mountain horses look unhappy in their ears, eyes, mouths, nostrils, and necks!

Yep, always look at the horses and ignore the riders - unless they're riding well.

i'm with tarlo-- look at the horses, ignore the --all male-- riders. it's enough to make you think men just don't know how to ride

The Legion of Honor Museum in San Francisco does have a statue of, I believe, Joan of Arc.

If that were one of my mares making that face? I'd be fleeing the scene. That's a horse saying "don't fuck with me!!"

Re all male equestrian statues: I do know of at least two with women. One is if Joan of Arc at the Legion of Honor Museum in San Francisco. The other, probably in Massachusetts, is of a young woman who was one of the riders who, like Paul Revere, rode to warn people "the British are coming." Revere got all the publicity because of the Longfellow poem!!

It's probably a Spotted Saddle Horse, and so, like the TWHs to which it is related, is amazingly tolerant. If they were not, there's be a lot more dead/injured Big Lick trainers!

I think Roy Moore's horse had a twitter account at one point, the poor critter. It was hilarious.
