Fall wedding season!
It's no longer friends -- we've reached the point the neiblings are getting married
I just ordered four black tie-appropriate dresses from Nordstrom (free shipping, free returns). Hopefully one works as I hate shopping, and I realized that I have VERY limited time to get it done with a trip to Europe at the beginning of October, followed immediately by wedding. Now on to shoes (flip flops work, right?!) and something for my husband.

Wonderful news -- best wishes to your neibling! Of course flip flops work.

Re: Fall wedding season!
Oh, I'm glad black-tie weddings aren't really a thing over here. The dress I bought for the last wedding we attended is casual/plain enough that I wear it to the office. I've been oddly obsessed with dresses lately (very few I would wear, but I like looking at them) and I almost wish we had a wedding to go to so I'd have an excuse to buy this one: https://www.modcloth.com/shop/dresses/m ... 66126.html
Keep calm and canter on.

That's really cute, StraightForward!
I found a sassy halter dress at Modcloth a few years ago for my cousin's wedding, so they were my first look this time too. I keep coming back to this dress, and wishing they had a few other colors!
Fortunately, this is only the second black tie wedding. Most everyone else has had big relaxed come-as-you-are-type parties.

Re: Fall wedding season!
I saw those, but I need something with a bit less pattern right now! My hair is currently a dark brown bob dipped in bright green, and, while the green might change pre-wedding, the bright part won't.
I hoping that one of these three will work: one, two, three. The fourth option doesn't really interest me, but that brand normally fits. I was seriously eyeing a silk jumpsuit instead, but my husband nixed that He's likely right, but, hmph.

I like #2 also! You could seriously glam class that up with a necklace/bracelet.

Re: Fall wedding season!
#2 is just lovely, but I have serious cultural issues with black for a wedding, so I really would wish they had it in another color.
I just love the color of #3, but it might be a bit overpowering for the occasion combined with that plunge neckline--you don't want to overshadow the bride!

Between that neckline and the pleats, I'm pretty sure it's a no. But the color is totally me!

What is a neibling?
Re: Fall wedding season!
Neibling: "Non-gender specific form of neice or nephew. As 'sibling' is to brother and sister. And 'spouse' is to husband and wife.."
I had to google it!!
I'm hopeless with dressing up and would probably wear thongs if it was in summer. In winter probably boots. .. I'm hopeless.

I love #2, then again I am not known for my style. Lol Especially when it comes to shoes--do hiking boots go with that?

Re: Fall wedding season!
I find myself shopping for a stepmother of the bride dress, for a small somewhat quirky Friday evening affair next week. There's nothing in the wedding manual for that lol. I ordered this from Nordstroms except in burgundy https://shop.nordstrom.com/s/chelsea28- ... proddescr2

Re: Fall wedding season!
Love all the dress possibilities, esp. goneriding's 'Chelsea' style, as I tend to conceal upper arms these days. To be sure, I 'got' muscle under there, but it must visually compete with some skin and body tissue which refuses to remain young. Ah, youth...

Re: Fall wedding season!
I have a dress!! None of the 4 from Nordstrom were perfect. The cowl back was the closest, but I would have needed to exchange sizes then have it fitted. Keeping that as an option, we checked a few other stores, and I found a winner at white|black market.
It's probably not formal enough ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ but no alterations needed, I have flats that will work, and I have accessories that will match. And, I'm already established as the eccentric aunt, so this just fits!
I did insist we check a few other formal wear spots My husband asked "why bother? You HATE this stuff!"

I like that one! It's unique, but also kind of subtle, and yay for wearing flats!

Re: Fall wedding season!
Very pretty and different! You will look smashing in it! I have a nephew wedding in Sept 2020 - but I cannot convince myself yet to wear a dress. I'm older and I like my arms covered and longer length too. I haven't worn a dress in YEARS!

There are a TON of super cute jumpers out there right now, Josette. Or nice slacks and a cute top?

Great dress! There was a white/black storefront close to where I used to live in Dallas. Always on my 'stop in and take a look' list.
