Happy birthday Dr Gekas

It’s Pi Day. 3/14. I was friends (platonic, thankyouverymuch) with Dr Gekas whose birthday is today. Every Friday we did the WSJ crossword puzzle, and we always talked about books, movies, etc. He called me “a lady of letters.” Our friendship was important to me. He was an excellent physician and an even better person. He retired and as these things happen, I never heard from or saw him again. Two years ago I ran into him at a poetry reading and after he said hello refused to talk to me. I was deeply hurt. I haven’t forgotten his friendship and today is his birthday, Pi Day. So happy birthday Dr. Gekas.
