Apologies for the lack of updates! Again, sort of a "no news" situation. Which is always good with green horses! :) Breslin has been ridden rather infrequently over the last few months--I've had a hip injury. :( All good, though--she trucks along as if she's had no time off. Ground manners are firmly in place--we longe quietly in sidereins WTC, we ground-drive all over the farm, and we W/T double-longing. Riding is coming along too. Slowly helping her understand that leg means GO! When something confuses her, or she gets a touch off-balance her default is to stop. She's not a mare you can kick/spur or boot forward when her brain is in "confusion!" mode--so, I've taken to simply taking a moment to let her figure it out. Stop, regroup, ask with a light leg, and she walks/trots right off. We're working on big time fitness and balance (she's a BIG bodied girl!), and haven't touched the canter. That will come when she's darn good and ready.

She's a goofball--very smart and inquisitive. I'm teaching her how to bow because her busy minds LOVES "tricks." So far, she's got the "pick up your leg" and "put your head down between your legs" parts--working on blending those two together. Will work for peppermints.

And for your sparkly enjoyment--she's now sporting a lovely Equiture browband. :D

Great news about the horse and sorry about the hip. Speedy healing jingles.

Ok--I'm sure a number of you have been sitting around wondering, "hey, how's that fat, feathered, redheaded mare doing?!" I know Breslin had a bit of a fan club a while back, and I apologies for the lack of updates. My hip issue and other annoying things have kept me from riding her as consistently as I'd like, but she's doing just fine nonetheless. Groundwork has been amazingly beneficial for her, as she seemed to miss that part of her education in her previous training.

She's basically the same horse whether you rider her 4x per week or once per month. Becoming a solid-citizen walk/trot, and the canter is in there! With more fitness and balance it will come.

The ONE thing that has helped her the most--is a $20 sheepskin cover for the crown piece of her bridle. It instantly resolved the remaining issues she had with fussiness. Our chiropractor noted that she was "very sensitive in her poll" and BINGO, light bulb--just need a little extra padding there.

Her other hobbies include: wearing silly wigs, walking across wooden bridges, and generally looking cute. Enjoy! :)

She is so adorable! Thanks for the update and cute pics. Hope you're able to resolve your hip issues and get in the saddle more as well.
Keep calm and canter on.

She is a doll. I paticularly like the wig too.

Thanks for the update. We need to keep up with family.
