The latest season of Ray Donovan. I think this is the saddest series ever made. My heart aches for every one of them. Even Mick!

Just finished binging on”dead to me”. It’s awesome.

I couldn't finish the latest season of Ray Donovan. It is relentlessly grim. Every character is broken and/or amoral. I couldn't take it. I've moved on to season four of Better Call Saul. It's not happy, but there are lighter moments and even some humor.

I've been Tivo-ing Luther on BBC America. It's only a four-show series this time, and I think the last one in next week. Then I can sit down and binge. Love Idris Elba!

I just finished watching Chernobyl. I really liked it.

I bought seasons 1 and 2 of Elementary on DVD so have been watching that exclusively. Really sad this is the last season of the show.

We've been watching Catastrophe on Amazon Prime. Sort of a dark sense of humor needed, but a really good show: plot line - a 40 year old London teacher has an affair with a traveling American business man and gets pregnant. He moves to London to support her and they get married, and it's great and terrible.

For once, we're watching something recently released! We started watching The Boys on Amazon Prime. A group of normals are trying to expose corrupt superheroes and the not at all altruistic (read: greedy, evil, corrupt) corporation that employs the sups. It's based on a comic book of the same name.

SF - I watched Catastrophe on Amazon Prime too. Not what I typically watch but got pulled in after the about 2 episodes - not what I expected but very good.

Since I'm into lots of British and Foreign series I signed up for AcornTV - but then some series were incomplete so I got BritBox too. (I will probably drop one of them.) So over the past few months I've been plowing through some series:

Keeping Faith (excellent!)
Loch Ness - murder mystery
Vera series
Shetland series
Martin Clunes - Man Hunt series
Martin Clunes - Islands of America (huge fan of this actor)
Inspector Lynley mysteries

Southland. Strong characters that you come to care about. It's gritty, observant, human, morally complex, and insightful.

Josette, I’ve had both Britbox and Acorn. I dropped Britbox in favor of Acorn. Much better and more recent programming. There is a new service called Pluto which has lots of British programs, both streaming and regular channels. It is free and you can download the app to watch on a tablet, or watch it via Roku.

Thanks PaulaO - it was your posts that hooked me on Acorn. I was watching a series but it was incomplete so I had to finish it on another British channel. The Britbox is monthly through Amazon Prime so I will drop it soon. I also do Masterpiece as another subscription.

Just a PSA. If your local public library has Hoopla, you can stream a lot of shows and movies, including my favorite British gritty crime show ever, Line of Duty.

Mortified Nation. We were watching it a few years ago and DH just.put it on again. Adults reading their teen diaries.

There is also a documentary (Nature??) out there about the wildlife that had moved back into the very large abandoned area around the plant. It had a very post apocalyptic feel/look to it, the animals had moved into abandoned buildings. It was also very good and surprisingly optimistic relative to the recultivation of life there..

I bailed on the first season of Keeping Faith, but watched the second season and it was great. Each episode was filmed twice, once in Welsh and once in English.

Now watching the second seasons of "The Good Doctor" and "Killing Eve." Laughing way too hard during Killing Eve. What a show!

Love "Shetland." Season 5 is waiting for me at the library.

I'm always a few years behind in watching shows. The last few days I've been watching "House." I love the medical/diagnostic stuff, hate the cast (except Omar Epps). Also watching Call the Midwife. Unforgotten (three series) from Masterpiece available via Amazon Prime is excellent.

We're back to watching The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. We started watching it, then stopped. I thought my husband didn't like it, but we were flipping through shows the other day and he said he actually did like it, but thought I didn't like it I think we're on like season 3 now?

Looking forward to Better Call Saul coming back in February.

In the meantime, I'm working my way through my horse training DVD library.

I dont often have time but I had 2. I loved the British baking show, I Netflix watched that.

Right now my favorite is Mandalorian on Disney

Just watched The Lunch Box, what a terrific movie - intelligent, poignant, and funny.

I sprung for Disney + and am thoroughly enjoying it.
I watched Fantasia (for about the 20th time). That is my favorite movie of all time. That in 1940, really in the infancy of animation (and a World War) that someone had the thought to dream up animation to go with classical music. Amazing. Also watched Fantasia 2000 but still like and appreciate the original much more.

Of course the Mandalorian. Really good space western. I can't imagine the cost of that series. Also caught up on Star Wars (The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi). I will wait for the Rise of Skywalker to cruise onto Disney + (I'm cheap ).

Lately on National Geographic (included in Disney +), I have been binge watching Dr. K's Exotic Animal ER. Amazing what that vet knows and can do with seemingly endless different species. Big and small. Mammal, marsupial, reptile, birds and fish... Fish anesthesia is weird The episode I watched this morning, she hooked up with a tech company that was able to scan a terribly injured tortoise (run over by a car) and then 3D print a shell for him until he was able to restore his shell which apparently takes upwards of a year. That tortoise had never missed a beat despite his gruesome injury. He even had a hole in his lung on presentation which they were able to close. His owner was very dedicated and did a wonderful job of dressing changes to get him to the point they could plop on the manufactured shell (4 months post injury). Also watched Dr. T', Lone Star Vet. Dr. T was originally Dr. K's intern then associate vet. Very entertaining for me but then I work in the medical field so find what they can do for these critters fascinating.

Last night I started (via Acorn) Ackley Bridge. It's not about a bridge at all! A new high school opens up in northern England, blending white and Asian students. Very good.

I've been binge watching Call the Midwife. DH and I watched the new show The Witcher within about a week, and am now listening to the audio books.

Oh Lord, I started Call the Midwife a few weeks ago and love it. I cry at almost every episode.

I just finished The Witcher. I'm not sure if I like it or not but I really enjoyed staring at Henry Cavil .

I’m 30 something years behind the times. Watching St. Elsewhere via Hulu. Sadly there isn’t a whole lot of diagnosis dialogue a la House, so I can’t shout “pneumothorax” or “he’s gonna seize.”

St Elsewhere! One of my all time favorites. I thought it was about me, and my experiences as an intern and resident, but we never had such a handsome doc like Mark Harmon. What an incredible cast - so many went on to do great stuff.

Did you read The House of God?

I read The House of God decades ago. Can’t even remember it! Of course Mark Harmon would be a plastic surgeon! I’m partial to Fiscus, the ER doc.

We just finished the first season of Locke and Key on Netflix. It was a great show.

I've been watching The Outsider which is based on a Stephen King book. It's creepy but I'm finding it strangely compelling watching.

Some of my friends recommended The Witcher and Harlots so I might check them out too.

I just finished series 3 of Fargo and am looking forward to watching series 5 of Outlander!

I liked Locke and Key a lot, I watched it way too fast.

I really liked Spinning Out, but maybe because the male lead is so gorgeous. Also I’m a sucker for those Cutting Edge/Step Up-type movies, and this scratched that itch.

My mom was telling me to watch Schitt’s Creek for the longest time, and for some reason the name really turned me off so I resisted (no idea why, it’s not like I have a problem with profanity!). Finally, I gave in and after a few episodes, I was hooked. It’s written by Eugene Levy from Best in Show, his real-life son. They play two of the main characters, and Levy’s daughter plays a waitress. Catherine O’Hara, who plays Levy’s character’s wife in Best in Show, also plays his wife in Schitt’s Creek. I caught up to what was available on Netflix and the only way to watch was an Amazon Season Pass, so I got that but they only drop 1 episode per week, so no binging.

Sex Education. British humour, I love it.

I'm watching the first season of Marcella, a British mystery/police drama with complex, interesting characters. Laura Carmichael isn't the main character, but has an important role in the first season. It's fun to see her away from her Downton Abbey role.

bip I adored Schitt's Creek. Netflix has all the episodes, so I'm not sure why you needed to go through Amazon.

Back to the 80s. I'm watching Perfect Strangers via Hulu. I heart Balki. In general I don't like physical comedy but I laugh during each episode.
