Corner Creek: http://www.cornercreekbourbon.com

It's also very reasonable for the quality ~$30/fifth.

Second Blantons, followed by Willet.

None of us asked a pertinent question: what was the nice bottle you just finished off?

You're right. I should be more open-minded and curious!

Bourbon preference is very personal, just like scotch.

The one I just finished is Jefferson's Reserve.
While I like the honey ones, that's not what I am looking for here :)
I will look for the one mentioned. I find it interesting that this question generated VERY different suggestions on TOB; those were, for the most part, recognizable brands. These are new to me!

Love ya'll!!

I like Jefferson Reserve, but haven't had it in a while. If I recall correctly, it's similar to Blantons. Or, maybe it's just similar in that I like both :D

Corner Creek is new to me. It's not on the shelves around here. I'll have to check Jack Rose next time I'm there and see if they have it ... PSA for anyone in/traveling through DC -- Jack Rose in Adams Morgan is a virtual library of all things whiskey. They do small pours and if you're there off hours, most bartenders will give free tastes.

I would consider Jefferson Reserve fairly similar to Blanton's. Both are quality bourbons.

I would describe Corner Creek as being slightly toasty and caramel-y, without being at all cloying. It is actually good neat as a winter after dinner drink, though I usually have it on the rocks. I became familiar with it when I moved to Tennessee. For mixed drinks, I like Bulleit bourbon (or rye) and some Buffalo Trace (they can vary quite a bit). But Corner Creek is too tasty to waste on a Manhattan.

I like some of the special reserve Knob Creek bourbons, too. They are a bit smokier.

I sound like a drinkard now, but seriously, in the south we like our bourbon :-)

My bodybuilding coach is from Kentucky, he sends me images of him drinking Maker's Mark quite a bit, so I bought a bottle. Wooooweee, that was yummy!
