Another techie phone question

Postby Josette » Fri May 27, 2016 2:13 pm

I'm planning to purchase an apple iPhone 6s model. The prices are crazy expensive so I looked on ebay. My phone carrier is Verizon (FIOS package). I see some of these new iPhones are listed as Sprint or AT&T. Does that mean I can't convert to my carrier or it will be some headache to do so??

You can switch carriers and keep your cell number. Tell the new carrier to port your number. But look at your existing contract and make sure there is no fee to end your contract early.

Actually in the US there are two cell phone standards, GSM (AT&T, TMobile), and CDMA (Verizon, sprint). Make sure the phone you buy is unlocked and the correct standard for your phone plan and you'll be fine.

Thanks for these details. These prices are insane and I'm going to look for something less expensive. I simply want to take some decent pictures, video short rides, maybe access email. Getting map directions or access to trip advisor for places to eat when we travel.

DH has an android phone which I'm not crazy about..... He likes it.

Are you looking to purchase outright or have you considered, yes I know :), a 2 year contract to purchase??

Yes, you are locked in for 2 years but it can make the price a bit more "palatable" :)
