Worth updating to Windows 10?

I have a 5 year old Gateway desktop computer. It's got the i7 Intel core chip set CPU @2.8 GHz, 8 GB RAM running 64-bit Windows 7 Home Premium SP1. It isn't a touch system.

Wondering if upgrading to Windows 10 is worth doing. Opinions appreciated.

10 will probably slow it down to a crawl. You can try and I believe you have 30 days to undo the changes if you don't like it

Is 10 that great?

I hated Vista, didn't much like 7, really dislike 8.1.

XP was the best and I want it back!

I had to buy new laptop couple of months ago, the store upgraded it to 10 for me gratis. 10 is like 7 which I had so I just bypassed 8 altogether.

You can update, and if you don't like it you can revert back to how you had it.
I tried it with mine, and straight away got stuck in this never ending loop of restarts. I had to mash keys to stop it and luckily there was the option to go back to how it was before.. phew.

I did a brief google search and decided I liked my Win 7 just fine. Not updating.

Thanks everyone. I think I'll keep 7 and save 10 for when I have to get a new system. Don't need that kind of aggravation.

I 'upgraded' from 8.1 to Windows 10 a couple of weeks ago. It slowed my computer down and then the computer started freezing. The graphics on a game I regularly relax with was impossible to look at. I updated the Graphic Driver and it was no better, so I decided to do a System Restore.

Unfortunately, THAT was when I discovered that Sony was advising not to upgrade my Sony Vaio! They had not updated any drivers for Windows 10.

My computer has now been re-set to factory setting and in spite of spending hours and hours 'saving' stuff off the hard-drive, I didn't manage to save photos, documents or videos. The good news is that I managed to get all my passwords!

This is good to know. All the articles out there I've read just say how easy it is and how all the bugs are gone and you'll fall in love, get married and have perfect children. I'll stick with Windows 7.

I've heard Windows 10 + the newest LR CC Update is working about as well as cat herding.

Yes, makes me glad I rather avoid LR. I like my chaotic cataloging system, thank you very much.

I have windows 10 running on a trial computer at work and am getting ready to move to it for all my systems. Windows 10 is, I believe, more lightweight, than 7....so I am not sure it will slow your computer to a crawl. I have a couple more applications to test that they run on 10 but will move there soon. As with everything, there is a significant difference between 7 and 10. But since I have been supporting Windows 8 and Server 2012, I have gotten used to it.

I think I am just going to hope my old computer with 7 on it hangs in there for a long time more. I am not a computer person, and find them sort of annoying under the best of conditions! I just need it to work.

I have Windows 10 on my work computer and I had it on my home PC before I switched to a Mac. I like it a lot actually and I haven't had any issues with it. I also use CC LR and PS and I didn't notice anything funky about it, but I haven't used that computer in about a week or so, so if it's a recent update, that could be why.

I like the Edge browser so much better than IE too.

My Mac on the other hand..... Oy, so much for "it just works". lol

I have two MACs that I have to support at work. They are known as POS1 and POS2

I'm a devout LR hater.

RTR, I think it was pushed out last weekend, it's the newest CC update. I heard lots of things changed, there was a big thread on Shoot & Share this week.

You guys must live wrong - I have an iMAC (my second one) and it just works which is more than I can say for my <unnamed-manufacturer>'s windows laptop...

And I like LR :) I got an update late last weekend I think - I don't see any CC notifications this morning of an update... (I have just LR and PS).
