Holy carp Bob and Ariel are related
I looked up Miss A's pedigree (her registered name is Boom Shakalaka). Foolish Pleasure (1975 Kentucky Derby winner) is the paternal grandsire of both! She had a rather sad racing career--29 starts and 0 wins.

Without knowing him, I feel like Bob would be pleased.

That is very cool.
I think of a racehorse who's had 29 starts and a new life off the track as very successful indeed.

She's 15 and has been at this barn as a school horse for a little more than a year. Prior to that she was a school horse. I (and others) can tell she needs a person. I always said I would never get a mare, but that was because I didn't like the mare turnout at Bob's barn. I've read stories about how mares will give you their heart and soul once they bond with you. I hope this is true.
P.S. Please let me know if I post too much about her. I don't want to seem like THAT HORSE OWNER

You're not!!!
(notice the number of exclamation marks!!)
I hope you and Ariel find THAT connection - you both deserve it. I love it how excited you are about her, it's sweet!
And yeah, I have a mare. Between me and my husband we have five horses - four geldings and a mare, and the mare has my heart. She knows who to run to when horse flies are bad and she needs to be rescued! She also knows what it means when I say "Wait right there, I go get some goodies for you". She will stand at the fence till I come back, and she SOFTLY nickers at me when I approach. That's when my heart melts, every time.
P.S.
I had to log in just to tell you that "you're not!!!"

It is true...just takes a lot longer than with a gelding!
Re: Holy carp Bob and Ariel are related
I think all horses are different and will take different amounts of time to bond with you, but it also depends on how much time you spend with them and how you treat them. Any horse that bonds with you gives you their heart.
My friend goes away all summer and I was caring for and riding her gelding. Man, he was so aloof and really didn't like to be touched. It made me sad. But he succumbed to my charms (lol) in two months. Now he loffs me.
Ariel will bond with you and love you, and that bond you had with Bob and that you miss so much, will be there again in a different form.
And you can talk about her all you like!
