Are there any Cyber Aunts here?

Postby Don Giovanni » Thu Oct 22, 2015 1:11 pm

Somewhere on the other side of the world, a young woman is facing a very difficult day as I celebrate the best day of my life. Fourteen years ago today, my wonderful, beautiful, talented, caring, sensitive, thoughtful son was born in Seoul, South Korea. He couldn't be anymore my son if I had carried him inside me; I can't imagine loving anyone the way his dad and I love him. We are so blessed.
I thank his birth mother every night for her courageous decision and hope somehow she knows how much he is loved and what a wonderful young man he is becoming.
I know you remember "the" picture of our Gotcha! moment, so I won't torment you with that, but this is his first birthday picture, wearing the traditional Korean clothing a friend bought for him:

and here he is this morning

(and yes, he is taller than I am!!)
I know all mothers love their sons, but oh my goodness - I'm just bursting with it :D

Happy birthday to him! He is so tall.....growing like a weed. What a lovely family you are!

It's good you didn't post the "gotcha" photo. I'm not wearing waterproof mascara today! :D

We are always here! Happy birthday to Matthew. It's hard to believe it's almost 14 years since Gotcha! Day. Like Sunshine2Me, the photo makes me weep with joy.

Aw, of course we're here! Happy birthday, Matthew.

I love the 1st birthday picture, and the contrast with the good-looking young dude he is now.

Happy Birthday! From another proud mom of a budding teenager. My boy is 13 and less than an inch shorter than me (I'm 5' 5") and experiencing not only his first year in public school but first year in middle school (7th grade). I love the way you two love your son--it truly does not matter how a kid comes into your world, just how they come into your heart. :D

He is such an awesome kid (and yes, I'm ridiculously proud of him). He is doing so well and is happy at high school which is an enormous turnaround from the last two years.

He's really growing fast - as a reference, I'm 5'7" and a bit... :)

I can't believe he's 14 and am so glad to hear high school is going much better for him.

My 9 year old is just a few inches shorter than me and all bones and hard edges. I miss the squishiness.

Seriously, weren't we all just freaking out about him turning, I don't know, 7? (I remember there being several "OMG, I can't believe he's __ years old!" threads). Likewise, I can't believe he's 14 already! Happy Birthday!

Wow, 14 years. He's turned into a handsom young man. You can see how proud you are of him, and all the love between you in that picture.
