Mini-brag:Leo

Postby DsMom » Sun Oct 02, 2016 9:41 pm

Just a mini-brag. A few years ago, when it became obvious D was headed for retirement, I bought a 2 year old named Leo. He was my project, and I started him under saddle. He also learned ground driving, long lining, and all his commands from me. Fast forward: we're now at a h/j barn, but a barn with a strong emphasis on position, centered riding, bending lines, etc. Leo has flourished. Last 2 summers I half leased him out. He loved it. He's learned to jump and learned about having a variety of people on his back. The result: he won reserve champion at a major h/j show this past summer and recently was used in an IEA show in a couple advanced level flat classes. He was, as always, honest :). If the rider was wrong in their position, he stopped. If they were correct, he flattered them. Not shabby.
