Recovery from Gallbladder surgery.

Postby orono » Fri Oct 07, 2016 3:48 pm

After a trip to the ER this week I ended up having my gallbladder removed, fortunately they were able to do it laproscopically. Just wondering about other people's experience regarding recovery etc. Thanks.

I've not had it done, but barring any problems, the lap recovery time should be far shorter than open recovery time. What always affects me with surgery is the time it takes the anesthetic to leave my body, usually about 2 weeks. The general rule with surgery is you can drive when you stop taking pain meds. You may have lifting/exercise restrictions due to your abs being cut.

Hope your recovery is smooth, and don't push it!

I had the same surgery. It was. A quick and easy recovery. I think I was back to full blown barn chores and riding in 10 days. You may need to ease into eating fatty foods as your body adjusts to no gallbladder. I didn't have any problems with this and was back to eating eggs and bacon within a week.
Good luck on your recovery.

I had it done eons ago (1995). I took a week off work. I was kind of fatigued the first couple days back at work but then back at everything. Barely a blip on the radar.

Healing jingles.

Jingles for a good recovery. Kind of cut into your Thanksgiving though!
