Another Bling Browband Poll

Postby PhoenixRising » Wed Oct 12, 2016 6:52 pm

Since realizing I really don't WANT to sell Phoenix (and therefore wont), I've been working on a list of things for starting her under saddle. Now, I know a pretty brow-band isn't a NEED, but I've daydreamed about a pretty browband every time I've pictured myself riding her  . I've narrowed it down to 4, I think I have a favorite, but I'd like everyone else's opinion as well! I'm not buying yet, just daydreaming and planning ahead.

And a couple pictures to assist. Both pictures are somewhat old now. Her eating was last winter/spring, and the crossties was probably 6 months ago but doesn't show her face. I need to be more vigilant about getting pictures. She's a very dark bay in the summer, when she is shed out, with the lighter points on her face.

All of them!
But I thought this one is very pretty!

However, a bit of colour (like the garnet) would be good too. I like horsey jewellery shopping :)

I think she'd lovely in a black padded bridle with white on the nose and brow band. How about something with alternating brownish stones?

I suggest this because I bought a pretty turquoise and clear stone bling brow band for my dark bay mare and it's too much. We never use it.

I quite like the red one, but then, i like red and use my bling for everyday, and plain for showing.

Personally, I'm gravitating towards the alternating crystal and black diamond with jet ( the 4th one) and the garnet in a close 2nd. My only complaint with the garnet is the golden prongs, when she's going to be in a lot of black/silver. Red is my favorite color, so I really like the garnet, I looked at a ruby and black diamond one but though it was too bright, though it had silver prongs. But I also feel like the other is very classy and find myself really drawn to it also. I wish it was within my means to just get all of them and rotate.

Since they do custom, they could probably make the garnet one for you with silver prongs. Might as well have it just the way you want it!

I may email them and ask, but I'm thinking they cant. When you go into the customize your own, when you hover over the gem colors it pops up a "brass" message when you're over garnet.

Well, you guys know my position. Why settle on one when you can have 6?!

I am completely biased but I own and love the fading one. And the garnet one is on my own wish list.

In the brown family, I really like this one. http://www.equiture.biz/gold-quartz-and ... -browband/

In the photo, I don't notice the gold prongs. And garnets on a dark bay mare? No brainer!

Right now, I'm actually leaning towards the Garnet again. Last year, for our Christmas exchange here, Phoenix and I received a personalized leather halter. I hadn't used it yet, because I wanted to keep it nice (ie not hanging on the pasture fence, etc. which is what happens to the halters they use daily). I put it on her yesterday to get pictures to send in with her registration papers, and I'm in love. Its brown with black padding and brass. I think I just need to concede myself to black/gold/brass/red(garnet) colors instead of black/silver. Because it just looked too dang good on her!

My mind is still stuck on thinking about all this, as I attempt to figure out what I need to buy, and what I want her wearing. I really think I want the garnet one. I love red and now realize I really like the brass on her. SO, if I do the garnet brow band, does anyone think I should I switch to black/white/gold(brass)/deep red for saddle pads instead of black/white/silver? Does it matter that much? I just want to pick what is going to look best on her

This pad is beautiful.
http://www.equikro.com/eskadron-classic ... addlecloth

Even with the garnet browband, I don't think it is necessary to use a red saddle pad every day. Gold trim would help to tie in with the gold - if you are so inclined - on any color saddle pad. But even that would be taking the matchy-matchy to a moderate level.

This one is nice too.

This one in ivory might look nice on her - warmer than pure white.

Oh I really like the second one! Too bad its pony sized! I actually meant more black/white pads with gold or red trim (or a combination of the two), but I like that one a lot too.

For a schooling pad, I'd avoid metallic piping. I have two with silver piping and they don't hold up very well to washing and daily use.

Oh that's good to know! I may just be looking at black and white pads then lol. Maybe a creamy colored too.

The review for that browband: "So after I ordered the first two, I just can't stop until I have one of each color!! I have eight! My favorite is whichever one I happen to be looking at!!! They are all just STUNNING!!!"

 I can totally relate.

The colors on this one are really nice. The megabling browbands are, in my opinion, significantly more substantial than the "normal" bling ones. Something to consider, depending on the size of her head.

The champagne pad would look very nice with the honey crystals.

Well, I bought it. I couldn't resist, they got me with it being on sale. I think it will be ok, i've seen the mega bling in person, another person at the barn has one.
I just have to figure out some extra jobs to get some Christmas gift money together, since I needed to wait and that was a chunk of it... whoops

I love the honey crystals; however, that is one color I know will not look good on my horse.

I'm really glad I went ahead and got it, even though my wallet really could have waited. I keep going back and staring at it today, so I know it must have been the right one. LOL
I found another that is not the mega bling that is honey and garnet. I may end up getting it too at some point.
I contacted them this morning to see if I could add a custom stock pin. I know will be awhile before we go to any shows, but hopefully it will still be in good enough condition to use both in shows later. If not, I'll just have a custom one made to match.

I'm officially narrowed down to the champagne pad, and this one... I think.

Would cream brushing boots be taking the matching too far? Do I want that much creamy color or should I just stick with white or black boots? I'm feeling like the boots and pad and browband all in that creamy color may just be too much, I'm sure I'm completely overthinking this. LOL

Both white and cream will look dirty pretty quickly. I have a set of pro choice boots in white and I'm only going to use them for shows and clinics. Black looks better when not perfectly clean.

I did consider black too. We have a washer available to us at the barn though, so washing them frequently wouldn't be impossible. I think I'm getting overwhelmed trying to compile a list of the things she is going to need. LOL
ETA: Its FUN its just a lot to consider, and its hard without trying things on her to see how it will look
