Have you heard of Mfuwe Lodge

Postby Chisamba » Fri Oct 14, 2016 1:44 am

In South Luangwa, ( zambia where i was born) is a game park that works hard to preserve Zambian wildlife. It is built along the Luangwa valley. Well they built a lodge, called Mufwe Lodge. the lodge was built surrounding a grove of wild mango trees, that was the feeding place of a family of elephants. the other side of the grove is open, but the elephants have taken to walking a short cut through the reception, and then napping in the courtyard. sorry its spelled Mfuwe lodge, i tend to spell it like i say it

Absolutely amazing! Gave me chills and brought tears. Thank you for posting Chisamba. My family wants to make a trip to Africa at some point, this looks like a great place.

Wow! That looks like a great place to stay!

I spent a little time at Jackson Lake Lodge in Wyoming, and the moose used to meander right thru the property there, but elephants have about 3000 lbs on moose!

Thanks for posting this. It's nice to see elephants happy. For some reason I feel a strong attachment certain animals and elephants are one of them. I told DH about Mufwe after i saw the post and he said we could plan to visit.

I had seen this link once before and thought it was incredible and beautiful how these magnificent animals trusted people there.

Demi - another closer trip for you is the Elephant Sanctuary in TN.

Thanks, Josette. What a nice place. I am so glad they do that for elephants. I only went to a zoo once in my life, and it was one of the better ones. It still made me sad beyond words. I never even saw the elephants there because I had to leave after I saw the gorillas. I am still haunted by the picture in my mind of the big silverback. He was so beautiful and did not belong in captivity.
