Two thirds done with chemo

Postby Chancellor » Thu Feb 02, 2017 8:46 pm

I don't recommend chemo. What a pain. I spent two days in the hospital last week because my potassium was nearing dangerous lows. Apparently, my EKG in the hospital showed abnormal rhythms.
The good news is that my doctor agrees that the tumor has shrunk considerably! So, that is good.
Two more treatments and I am done with chemo hopefully forever.

I don't know if I have ever been this tired. And tired all the time. I don't know how people do this more than once.

It sounds like hell and I'm glad that it is working and I hope you only have the 2 more treatments and you are done with chemo. Everything crossed and lots of jingles for you.

I'm glad to hear the tumor is shrinking, sorry to hear that the chemo has knocked you down a bit.

But, only two more to go! I'll be thinking of you!

Shrinking tumor is GREAT news! Sorry to hear you had a hospital visit. Unfortunately being tired goes with chemo. Now only 2 to go and put the rest behind you. Wishing you a smooth journey.

Great news on the tumor. Keep your eye on the prize and chemo will be over and done before you know it.

I was thinking about you. Thank you for checking in.

My sister just finished her chemo. She will continue getting Herceptin out to a year but the nasty stuff is over. She too has been battling the potassium issue and last week needed 2 units of RBC's. She got through it though and you will too.

Continued power and strength jingles coming your way.

Weirdo cancer treatment hack: clam chowder is a superb source of potassium (clams, potatoes, and milk are all excellent sources). Also an excellent source of calcium, which also can go wonky during chemo.

Good luck with the home stretch.

Great news! I was surprised just how tired my friend was (she's done with chemo for now). We stopped for a bite after treatments (because we've found she could eat right away, but not three days later), and she couldn't hold the ceramic plate to put leftovers in a box. You're almost there!

Hang in there! That light up ahead is NOT an oncoming train but is an end to chemo. Continued tumor shrinking jingles coming your way.

So glad the tumor is shrinking. Nothing like chemo fatigue, hitting that wall and not being able to take another step. Bleh Not sure what happens next but keep your chin up. N point in being miserable, it only makes you more misreable.
I used to look forward to chemo because it meant another step in the right direction, the end.

So, I had to go back to the ER. This time because my magnesium was too low. This freakin sucks.

A slight aside on potassium and potatoes.. it's the skin that has the most potassium rather than the actual root. I struggle with high potassium and have been told I can eat potatoes as long as I don't eat the skin... sigh.

Chancellor, glad you are hanging in there! Go have some potato skins for dinner tonight!
