HAMILTON!

Postby Tarlo Farm » Fri Feb 10, 2017 10:46 pm

Listening to the soundtrack like a 12 year old; over and over and over again. LOVE it!!! Anyone else? Anyone lucky enough to score tickets?

I found reasonable tickets for an August show in NYC. Got on the early release email list, and searched -- a lot -- for a reasonable ticket price. :)

OH! Congratulations! I'm wondering if it's worth it to go to Chicago (4 hours away) and hang out on the sidewalk hoping to pick one up as people enter.

I have a ticket for April. I intend to take myself to NY, not to stay with parents, but stay in a hotel, eat in the dining room (or some lovely restaurant), and act as if I own the world!

Think I'm going to do a similar thing in Chicago, cost be damned. I'm worth it and when I die I don't want to be wishing I'd seen it.

We're seeing it in SF when it arrives. The lottery for tickets was insane.

My darling wonderful DD got tickets for us. BEST.SHOW.EVER. Hands down, no contest. I played the soundtrack for months on end, have the libretto, have gone completely bonkers (which is so unlike me). I still have terrible Hamilton ear worms!

HAHAHAHA! DD sent me a valentine's card that read "I'm sending you a fully armed battalion to remind you of my love". Laughed for days.

Amazon Prime had the album streaming free for awhile. I surprised myself by listening to it a lot. I'm too hold for hip hop. Loved it.

I loved this NPR Pop Culture Happy Hour podcast on Hamilton because the panel are two musical/theater lovers, (Linda Holmes, Glen Weldon), a "never seen a broadway musical before" guy who has seen a lot of Disney musicals (Stephen Thompson) and an African American dude who has never seen a musical and almost no theater (Gene Denby -- does the NPR Code Switch podcast). The articulate love through the various perspectives is just terrific.

So I'm in Chicago for business, not flying out until tomorrow and just happen to be a few blocks from where Ham is playing tonight....yup, sprung for a seat up in the rafters at a crazy price, but DAMN if I'm not completely excited to see it again!!!
