I have coonhound scent detection dogs, a couple rescue GSD and working border collies. And although our litters remain intact for 12 weeks (bull terrier moms are kinda done with their kids at 4 weeks!) we begin the recall, crate and housetraining etc at 4-5 weeks. Or if I get an older puppy or adult dog in for rehab, I use the same methods as we use for puppies to educate the new dog.
