So apparently I pick nice horses with awful names, and each of the two I need to re-moniker are from different registries.

A) Westphalian branded, half holsteiner mare, "E" (Ehr-beginning preferred) this mare is bright bay, smaller than the black one, and less electric but very talented.

-Ehrenfels
-Ehren
-Ehrentranz
???????? Elvis Stojko (Joke!)

B) KWPN branded, half Westphalian mare, "J" name. This mare is very big, black, and a powerful elegance.

- Juilliard (ballet/dance/music school)
- Joplin (needs no intro)
- Jericho Beach (one of Vancouver's gorgeous beaches)
???

I have used the name Ensign, and it has been a good name.

How about Ehranthis? https://www.easytogrowbulbs.com/product ... 7297130246

Jantzen/Janssen is also popping into my head for some reason.

ETA: With "Ehr" you could do a play on the word Air, like Ehrborne or something. Or a play on "Heir" like Ehrapparent.

So far I LOVE the "Air" names.

Is "Ehrloom" stupid? (I like the word and also it pays homage to my parents' generosity) is there a nicer way to spell it?

(Oh my gosh, "Ehrmail" laughing cuz she's shipped on a plane

When one is "Endless Pleasure", another "Jumping Lightfeet" and the last "Jimmy" I am just sick of names.

Although "Jimmy" I'm renaming "Jimmy Hoffa". He's a gangster workhorse.

Galopp I like Ehrenhaft as well!

Oh these naming rules are fu. N.

I like Julliard.

I tend to like feminine names that end in "a", so I also thought of:
Jacobina (J pronounced as Y)
Jaffa (city in Israel)

I liked Jaffa as well, but I just purchased a 3yr old stallion named Jimmy who I'm changing to "Jimmy Hoffa" as he is quite a gangster/workhorse type KWPN

I think Jaffa and Jimmy Hoffa might be too similar?

OMG I'm going to die of laughter.

I thought maybe they could be altered to something more pleasant. But nothing is springing to mind.

Sorry for all the lost time. It's been a rough few months. I'll start a new thread to introduce Ehren! (Ehrenhafte).

Coal Harbour (nee Cosmopolitan) has been in the horse hotel (clinic) since arriving at jet lets when they landed June 2. He is ok but now just waiting on transport with these wildfires in bc)

Who is Coal Harbour? Is the 'J' mare still coming?

Hope you are well! It's nice to hear from you.

I did like Juliette and also Jem - but, after I saw her photo's she needs something stronger! Something that captures her strength and beauty. She's just too big to be a Juliette.

The J mare I purchased got held up by other horses who were supposed to be on her flight pallet, and then she had to stay for a very long time in order to find two more horses to fill those spots, and I had to redo her lab work once, the next set of horses fell through as well, and I pulled the plug as it was costing me thousands of euros with no guarantee of a shipping date. And she wasn't getting any exercise besides handwalking. It was a bit of a disaster. I received a full refund of her purchase price.

Coal Harbour was born "Cosmopolitan" , a 2013 Conteur x Wolkentanz II x Alabaster/Bolero gelding. 16.3,1500 lbs. big, gentle lionhearted boy. Bred by Dr. Christoph Rowold

Photos are in the "tell us about you" thread!!

How did you find your horses? Did you use an agent? The prospect of shopping overseas seems daunting!

I have many friends at home who shop overseas very often, and many friends on Facebook I talk with a lot, all over the world. One great gal in particular buys fantastic young horses the same way we buy horses- chooses them based on temperament, soundness, vetting, style, movement, ridability etc, and then buys them and trains them and shows them full time, 3 or 4 at once, in addition to her own few personal competition horses, and has them on the market. She is new on the sales scene, but a very successful rider in Belgium. And a wonderful gal. I purchased both horses from her in the early spring and left them with her in training until June.
