Rico fetching.

Postby Amado » Tue Apr 04, 2017 12:33 am

We are working on fetching, as he loves to pick things up in his mouth. I've tried dog toys, and rubber cones, but he's happiest if I just toss my gloves. he's been doing this for awhile, but he's finally figured out the "bring it all the way back to me and hold onto it until I take it" part (I press my palm up under his mouth and he lets it go, then he gets a horse cookie) . I can get about 8 -10 good fetches, then the glove gets too slobbery and sandy and he doesn't want to pick it up any more. But it's an awfully fun game to play. Will try to get it on video.

That's impressive! Are you clicker training him?

And you have some bare ground - is Spring finally coming to Maine?

Not clicker, I just say good boy and give him a treat. The farmyard was kept clear with their big tractor all winter, and the ice has finally melted there, but there is still 2-3 feet of snow in the pastures.

Great training, and a fun game. He is so cute with the glove in his mouth.

Well this is annoying. Photos still appear on Photobucket but their links have vanished. Just those ones in this thread that I uploaded the other day. All my other photos have links. Wtf. Photobucket hasn't been working very well lately.
