Our loving Chi-mix age 5 was looking stressed breathing today and NQR. I was concerned he may have picked up a respiratory bug and did emergency visit to the vet. Almost 3 hours later a diagnosis of a very aggressive lymph cancer spread through lungs, abdomen and multiple lymph nodes. Fluid biopsy around lungs showed mixed abnormal cells and will be confirmed with a pathology confirmation. He just had a wellness exam May 2 and was all clear. We got him as a rescue and have him 4 years now. We are in shock and love this dog so much it is so horrible because he senses we are upset and give us kisses. He is on prednisone for comfort in breathing and we will be making arrangements soon due to the aggressiveness of this cancer. I will be taking a break from the forums. Hug your pets and horses.

Oh, this brings back the tears. We lost our 6 year old kitty in March--he had lymphoma which was so extensive it was shocking. Only a tiny bit of labored breathing and he began not eating much, vet visit wherein we were sent straight to a feline specialist (hour's drive) for x-rays and ultrasound, and we had no choice---the decision was made right then and there. All taking place within about 5 days total. The heartbreak of a life cut so short so quickly.

Tears and hugs and farewells. The time your pup spent with you was the best time and best gift he could have ever had.

We just lost our older dog (pom mix rescue) last fall but he was age 16. We had him for 14 wonderful years. But this is heart breaking as Sparky is only 5 years old. My face is swollen from all the crying. DH left work late this morning to return home to be with him. I know our time together will be short. Thank you for all your support.

I'm so sorry. It's one thing to lose them as they start to get elderly, but to have this diagnosis in one so young is the sort of thing that just knocks the breath out of you. Just keep trying to breathe.

I"m really sorry for the bad news, Josette.

We lost a pointer at age 5 to cancer--it was a total shock and very rapid. We still tear up when we say her name (Katydid).

There are just no helpful words. I am so very very sorry. We lost three out of five of our kitties/dogs in a four month period last year. The last was our 8 year old girl dog, Hope, and it too was a total shock without much warning, even in hindsight, even with recent vet visits. We put her down at the ER 24 hours after the first somewhat noticeable symptom, 10 hours after arriving/starting a day's care at the ER. They are all hard, some are just mind blowing on top of it. I get it.
