Ah the spammers

Postby Chancellor » Thu Jul 06, 2017 12:21 pm

They are getting smarter. Now, instead of using a bunch of random letters as their proposed username, they are using a real English word. Sometimes, they add a few letters at the end. Yesterday and the day before I had a whole bunch of independence and fireworks sounding names asking to be admitted to the board.
PHPBB brings out some interesting people from Eastern Europe.

I agree with Sunshine2me, thanks for being so diligent. And thanks for providing us with DDBB! This has become a really good board. The training forum is unique. It has evolved from the older training BB's. We have a wide variety of very sincere horsepeople, each having a dressage perspective, who kindly share there experiences.

Well, thanks for the accolades but this was really meant to poke fun at the spammers not a call for accolades. If I was MORE diligent, I would have gotten the geo-ip block up and running and I wouldn't have to do this!

Someday soon, I hope to do that.

hahahaha! Well done! Speaking of scammers, mind if I hijack and put out a caution to folks that online "free trial" (just pay shipping) are usually just ways of getting your credit card information to set you up for repeated withdrawals from your account. READ the fine print.
