What I've been up to...
What I've been up to...
Hi Guys
In addition to horsing and mothering... in early 2017 I started preparing for an exhibition featuring artwork from three generations of my family. It opened Aug 4th, and we just took it down on Sunday. The exhibit had close to 20 of my paintings, about the same amount of my sister's paintings, sculpture, woodwork, and paintings by my father, pottery by my mother, and paintings and enameled brooches made by my grandfather (my father's father).
The opening was extremely well attended and the show itself was very well received. We were all pleased to make lots of sales.
I thought you guys might be interested to see since we're a fairly small community here.
I'm going to post a bunch of photos so sorry for posting multiple times.

How interesting! I love the boat painting and the pebbles. Beautiful.
I'm a painter and printmaker by training--and I come from a family of painters, so it's always nice to see who else is out there!

Re: What I've been up to...
are the wet pebbles and shells paintings of photos?
do you have any photos of the enameled brooches.

Re: What I've been up to...
Chisamba the shells and pebbles are paintings. For most of them, I arranged the rocks and shells on my kitchen table, sprayed them with water, took photos, and then did the painting from the photos. I deviated from the photos in the paintings slightly though to make them better.
Here are the brooches:

Thank you! Beautiful pottery. In fact, the footed bowls are very similar to what I'm making right now, although I'd better keep practicing if I want to be able to throw such nice lidded jars someday.
Re: What I've been up to...
Rosie - such lovely artwork, all of it! I really like your grandfather's trees and the elk (?) Are there prints available of any of his paintings?
