Fitness trackers?

I've had two Fitbits (the kind that clips to your bra). I really liked them, but lost both of them. I'm thinking I want another tracker, but don't need anything like an Apple watch. I don't care about being able to get texts, etc. on it. I want something that tells me how many steps, how many stairs, active minutes, and tells time. And I want it to be pretty. I'm ruling out Misfit watches because I bought one and it wouldn't sync properly so I sent it back. I would like one that I can't lose!

I have a Fitbit Alta wristband. I'm not much of a fashionista and wear the black bands that it came with, but there are many accessory band options and it's fairly narrow and inobtrusive as compared to some other fitness watch options. Its battery life is fairly good-- lasts the better part of a week unless I am compulsively checking m watch for some reason (looking at you, all-day meetings) or am refreshing steps on my phone.

I don't think it counts stairs, though.

My Fitbit claims to count stairs. It does not. That's when I stopped using it. I didn't trust anything any more.

None of the fitbits count stairs. They count flights of stairs in roughly 10' chunks.

I have a Fitbit Charge HR. I really like it. I did not find the Alta to be even remotely accurate.

All of the fitness trackers are only approximations. But I think you can rely on them to be somewhat consistent in their approximations. You may not have actually taken 5000 steps yesterday, but if it says 10,000 steps today, you can be pretty confident you did twice as much.

Your phone will track steps, if you carry it with you in a pocket and download the app.

I have a Fitbit HR. Didn't buy it for myself, but I wear it. I put it on my leg when I ride the stationary bicycle.

Fitbit devices are not 100% ... and they don't claim to be :)

I had a Flex for 3 years and upgraded to the Charge HR a year ago.
It is as accurate as I need it to be.
I walk every day... almost always the same route ...and it has mostly the same step count for that route every day.
And no.. they don't count stairs. They count 'levels'. My barn is at the bottom of a decent slope and coming back up it I get 'credit' for a FLIGHT of stairs :)
A few friends have them too, and we are in weekly 'challenges'. Nothing at all serious. but it is interesting to compare.
Yes..it adds steps when I ride, but I am not worried about that. In the big scheme of things it doesn't really matter.
Overall, it is just a fun little device!

Save your money. Just walk and climb every chance you get.
