So It's Official...the Farm Sign is Up!

Postby fergusnc » Thu Sep 14, 2017 7:14 pm

Some would say it was official when we had the closing 2 years ago...but we horse people know it gets real when you name the place, and turns official when the sign goes up. :D :D :D

I knew the name the first time I saw the place from the road, before DH even knew it existed, before we had even really agreed that we were ready to buy a place of our own. Anyone that has spent any significant time with my boy understands that he was certain a similar sign hung everywhere he has ever lived...heck, probably every place he has ever visited....even if no human could see it. 8-)

And the coolest part to me....the silhouette really is him...and better yet, taken from a photo of his first ride back in a show ring after his first, and most severe, bout with EPM.

(It may be hard to tell, but yes, that is an apostrophe, not another bolt) ;)

I love it when farms have names and especially if they are meaningful to you. I love your farm's name and sign. I was about like you the first time we walked over our farm. I could see where deer had wallowed out places to lay in the tall grass so I named my farm Deer Wallow Farm which I still love to this day.

Very nice!!! It makes me think that after 15 years we should consider a sign (but we are in Appalachia, note the Piedmont!!)/

Thanks all. I do smile every time I look at it. :-) The plan is to plant a nice big garden around its base...one of those planned out gardens that looks sort of free and unplanned. Have an awesome family-owned nursery on a farm nearby with awesome prices and really helpful folks, so will be getting some advice/plants there when it's time. :-)
