Gift ideas for serious eventers?

I am trying to narrow down a thank you gift for my barn's trainer who is an advanced level eventer. While I don't train with her, I appreciate her and her barn's management and want to give a holiday/thank you gift. She not only trains and competes, but also teaches many young riders.

I've thought of Janet Foy's Dressage for the Not So Perfect Horse, but do not mean to offend *at all* (I think it is a great resource for training and understanding competition and judging). Other suggestions?

I could go more general, but I am the "dressage person" at this barn so don't mind being a bit thematic. The trainer is very equipped and well outfitted so I don't want to touch any of that.

Thanks!

How about Walter Zettl's "Dressage in Harmony"?

Or, any of the other classics. :)

Depending on your budget, Harry Boldt's "The Dressage Horse" is also excellent, but expensive. One very nice thing that book has is a whole chapter devoted to the best dressage horses of the past century or so. Each horse has their own two pages, with pictures, comments from the riders on the nature of the horse, etc. It's wonderful. :)

There's also Ingrid Klimke's new book. I can't remember the title, but I was going to get it for my eventer friend (and maybe myself too.)

A bottle of Scotch, for when the young riders wear her out.

Great ideas, thank you! The Ingrid Klimke book is a good match I think. I should get the Harry Boldt book for me!

Depends on your budget. Horse boots always wear out. A giant tub of clay poultice is satisfactorily heavy. An IceHorse (or whatever is the thing now) terribly useful, and seem as an 'extra' by some. A matching set of wheelbarrow, tubs, trugs, feed bins in her colors?

I think a gift certificate to her favorite tack shop would be extremely nice.
