Having to make the hard decision

Postby khall » Fri Dec 15, 2017 7:59 pm

Dang it, I hate it. The best cat I have ever owned and I have to make the call. Bronco has been diagnosed with squamous cell cancer of the tongue and it is impacting his quality of life already. I have a real soft spot for the orange ones, Bronco has been my first DLH ever and boy has he been a fabulous cat. He's been with us 10+ yrs, just showed up at the farm one day and has been here ever since. Sometimes an inside cat, but mostly has lived at the barn ruling the roost there and sleeping in the tack room at night. Vet will be here next Tuesday, have the weekend to dig a hole for him to be buried here on the farm.

I'm so sorry you have to make "the decision." It's never easy, even when you know it's the right thing to do. :(

I'm so sorry. You are doing the right thing, which can be so hurtful. Enjoy your last days with Bronco and spoil the hell out of him.

He is beautiful indeed. Those eyes. . . .

When he picked you, he certainly got it right. May all your wonderful memories swiftly fill the hole you feel with his passage.

He's a beautiful guy.

You're making the best decision for him, no matter how much you dread it. Kitties don't have a great quality of life without fully functioning mouths.

I'm so sorry to hear that. He reminds me of the orange cat Puddin' that showed up at my parents' house and never left. Those orange guys seem to be extra cool kitties. He made a great decision when he chose your doorstep to camp out on.
Keep calm and canter on.

I'm so sorry - the wait is very hard too. I did the same as you and had my sweet cat's appt done at home too. We needed the privacy. Hugs

Bronco went peacefully yesterday. Man it is difficult. He was such a special cat. Our official barn greeter to any and all. I host clinics here on the farm and board a few horses, all who came here knew Bronco as he would go to meet them. Some he would choose to pay even more attention to demanding by trying to crawl up your leg to be picked up and loved on. Some he was just happy to say hello to and move on. Bronco was often more dog than cat, electing to ride in our RTV with us or happy to go up to most all dogs who came to the farm. Had him jump into a vehicle one day to go say hi to a dog whose owner had left her in when she came to visit her filly. Bronco was one of a kind and I am so happy he chose our farm to live. RIP beautiful guy, we will miss you.
