I sold the farm!

Fingers crossed for a successful closing, but... I sold the farm! We bought a lovely horse property 5 years ago, but discovered quickly that dh absolutely hates farm life and all that goes with it, and single handedly managing the farm has taken over every bit of time and energy I have. Last year we decided to do some renovations we'd been wanting and to settle in and make it work here. The projects took on a life of hell, for many reasons, and it was the final straw. We put the farm fsbo on Zillow in October, and didn't get a single inquiry for the rest of the year. In January the phone started ringing, and I have shown the farm *18* times. I figured I'd show it a few times over months or even years, to people who really wanted a big horse property, and one of them would buy it because what else would they buy. Instead everyone and their dog (literally) came to look, but no offers.

Finally, someone I had little hope would buy but humored with a showing came right back with an offer and a prequalification letter from a farm lender. Hurray!! They are a young couple and have to sell their smaller property before they can close here, but we decided to work with them because they are very motivated and committed to the purchase.

The day we signed it around we went out looking for a house to buy, including one that had come on the market the night before. Well, that house was IT, and we made our offer and got it accepted!

So, if all goes well and knock on wood, we will be moving in 30-60 days. I will miss looking out the window at my happy horses grazing in my fields, knowing they are at home. I will miss that a LOT, but it is the ONLY thing I will miss! I can't wait to have my life back - time and energy for myself, to spend with dh, to spend with my kids, and really, to spend enjoying my horse.

Please jingle for a quick and easy farm closing (or even a convoluted and messy closing, as long as it closes!! :) )

How funny Goneriding, I think we have discussed our similar situations before. I have the exact same story. Learned today that a buyer is going through with the purchase of our farm and we are making an offer on a property tonight that I found last week.

What else are you doing in your life that I should plan to happen to me too.

Well, when this is all done, I'm taking a vacation. I'll bet you will need one too!

The funny thing is, we received our buyer's offer on Friday. On Saturday, we received another offer from someone who looked a while ago. And today I got a call from another buyer I've been talking with, and she's ready to make an offer.

Real estate is so crazy!

If the house we are making an offer on goes through then I will have some work to do.

I have said for years, I will never buy a split level, and I will never live in an HOA community, This is both, lol.

Oh no, we ARE living parallel lives! I said, I will NOT buy a house I have to work on, I want to move in and relax. So we bought a 1957 ranch from the 92yo original owner, who never changed a thing lol.

It will be a fun project though!

Mines 1978 split, I have redone scads of these for clients so at least I have a headway on planning and structural system. I sketched out the floor plan before we even looked at the house and bet DH that I had the correct layout. Spot on
