He's doing super!

Right before I got him gelded, we had our first solo walk/trot around the arena. Longe-free. He's been super. After getting gelded, he's had to do tough things like looking beautiful in a field:

And, of course, dealing with the papparazzi:

And adding to my "The Safe Handling of the Young Horse" guide:

I think he'll start going back to some sort of work over the weekend if the weather holds.

He looks really well put together, I bet he will do really well in dressage. He doesn't take a bad pic, does he?

He looks lovely. Does he seem to enjoy being a pet or does he have more of the "lets get this job done and then let me go back to my own business" type of mentality some stock horses can have?

He's the kind of horse that really enjoys being fussed over, and will come over from the pasture for neck or butt rubs. Generally just a pleasant sort of guy.

My GRP mare, Kiwi, has more of the businesslike personality. She'll go to work for me but would much rather I leave her alone when it's not work time. Go figure, huh?

I'm a sucker for a good pun. Or a bad pun. Any pun.

El Queso Grande?

De Queso Con Amor (From Queso with Love)?

Queso Fundido (The Melty Cheese-- also, he's fun-dido!)

The Queso Fundido (although he's keeping his "real" name because I just got his papers back from the AQHA) has some big news:

Today, he cantered under saddle for the first time. Nobody died. Nobody even got close to dying, actually. He struck off on the correct lead like a trained horse, thus earning for himself All the Cookies.
