She’s home!

Postby PhoenixRising » Thu Jul 05, 2018 3:52 pm

We moved Phoenix back “home” Sunday. After letting her settle back in for an hour or so we went straight to work. She was a dream, after at least 6 months off she took the saddle and bridle like it was yesterday and was lunging with side reins again by the end of one lunging session. Other than having a bit too much “go” on the lunge, which I expected, she was a dream! After she got a much needed bath and haircut, and settled back in with her herd easily.
I went out again to see her yesterday since I had the entire day off and lunged her again, still too much go but much improved since Sunday even. I may try to walk on her Saturday after her lunging while she cools out.
I just love this girl, she has such a good mind for a 4yo and I feel so so lucky.

One more picture, just because. Excusing my attire, I knew I wasn’t riding and it was HOT

She’s Friesian/TB. Her dad is a 15.2 Friesian out in California https://www.allbreedpedigree.com/zanders , and her mom a 16.2 TB “Kate’s Unique” https://www.allbreedpedigree.com/kates+unique . If I can ever get my act together I’ll be having her registered with one of the Friesian sport horse registries. I know her sire has DNA on file, I’ve checked with the registries and have the one that confirmd DNA on file written down somewhere. Her sires owner has been less than cooperative about getting her registered so I’m going to have to go to DNA route. I explained the situation to the registry and they said it’s not going to be an issue after explaining the issue with the stallion owner, I just have to find time to follow through and get it done sometime.
I’ve been really caught up on trying to decide a registered name too, something a bunch of horses won’t already be named.

She is lovely and I'm sure you are happy to have her back home. The saddle pad color looks really good on her. We all know that is important!

It's truly lovely to see the pad in use :) . I did wonder if that was it. She models it well.

Oh really?! I'd be curious to see some pictures of yours as well! I'm falling in love with the cross, its probably the Friesian personality shining through!

Thanks everyone for the sweet comments!
After only 2 lunging sessions since coming back home I've already been back on her at the walk and trot. She's just superb.
