Seller is in Scottdale AZ but her 13 "KWPN" horses for sale are in KY, OR, IL, Az... hmmm...? Odd.

The seller is local to AZ but gets her DHH horses from KY and such. She has a few on her FB page that are quite scopey - have you seen them?
As an aside, if there is something you are interested in, I may be able to preview it for you.

Have a caution there and make sure they're not coming from Amish breeders as they are heavily breeding DHH these days.

Is Amish breeders a dirty word? I acquired my best young horse ever from one. Sadly I lost her in the fire but every clinician I rode her with were very positive about her.

No mention of jumping ability anywhere - I think she’s s dressage horse.

I think she's miles more suitable for eventing than the DHH. She's super green and clearly not an easy ride and by the edits, guess her canter transitions are, uh, a work in progress, but her natural movement is much more efficient and effortless than some of the others. I kind of like her.

Not necessarily. After all, they're savvy enough to avoid showing her canter transitions because they are probably too green for everyone to see. If she's just starting off jumping and gets awkward sometimes, they might not put that out for public consumption just yet. She does not look like an easy ride and she might not be the right fit, but there are a few things I do like about her.

Am I incorrect that the sire, Semper Fidelis, is by Tzigane? So jumping lines Trakehner.

But the damsire is Regazzoni. I've only personally known one horse by him, but by all accounts he was pretty representative (with the usual warnings the plural of anecdote is not data and all that). Beautiful, overly sensitive, spooky as all come out and not at all cooperative beast. Gorgeous enough to be a stallion candidate in Germany, difficult enough that after the "no thank you" he was quietly gelded and sold to the US. So, Snork's wise words aside, I still do feel that if a horse has a marketable skill in jumping, it is generally shown jumping, and the ad mentions it. These people are eventers, so they're looking for that talent, and they don't appear to think she has it. Or they're just bad at marketing.

Flying to Idaho to see one questionable horse for a weekend is not in the cards. For not ALL that much more (really!) I could be flying to Ireland to see more than a dozen in the same time span, all of whom are jumping out of their skins.

So, I expect I could get all the details from the seller (I can't even see a price... did I miss that?) all signs point to this being something I probably wouldn't pursue. But what the heck: I've PMd them for a price and a video...

Well here ya go, from the seller: $40k for a 5 yo and NO, there's no jumping video.

Well, I assumed with the location that the discussion was mostly academic so enjoyed it as such. The price/video issue was disappointing even if she was located in the next town. Ireland is an awesome other option.

I would not shy away from sarcoids. I had a horse with one that we successfully had disappear with a Hilton herbs cream called Virex. It's been about 15 years since and it never came back.

I would not shy away from sarcoids. I had a horse with one that we successfully had disappear with a Hilton herbs cream called Virex. It's been about 15 years since and it never came back.

The red flag for me is the stranglehold the horse is being ridden with, both on the flat and over fences, resulting in his being behind the vertical almost all the time. There will be some retraining to do with this one, IMHO.

My red flag is no competition results or video footage in over a year...

Ah yes. I’ve spoken to the seller and without going into detail there’s a reasonable explanation for that.

I know, right! Imagine having a new horse to take care of, and it'd have to be in a stall due to the mud here ($$$) - I'd be freaking out.

It was not a total shock: a lot of my horse buying dithering was due to a tiny voice in the back of my mind wondering if this might happen, and only the perfect horse would have made me ignore that. I got a small severance package. That, plus my emergency fund (aka horse shopping fund...) and supportive Mr Xan, and I'll be fine. Still waking up with my stomach in knots over it every day though...

On the plus side, my parents are visiting in Feb so I'll have loads of time to see them.

Horse wise, I have 3 people at my barn who have offered to let me ride their horses anytime. I have also been offered a free lease on a going N/T eventer, but can I justify the board etc? Not realistically. So that's frustrating, but it is a nice compliment from the trainer, who I met while trying an Int/Adv eventer who was fairly bonkers, and I rode out the madness with a giggle

My dutch gelding is at 30 mins tack walking per day and appearing sound, so we will start trot work next month. Fingers x-ed he stays sound and I can go back to plan A: hassling you guys about how to "get me out of training level!" and hitting 2nd in 3 years (self imposed deadline because I like stress apparently )
