A couple of nice videos

Postby cb06 » Fri Aug 17, 2018 2:30 pm

A committee for the Saddlebred Association put together a couple of really nice dressage and versatility videos.

The dressage video. (my horse has a few cameos)

..and another nice all-around video.

It is just nice to see some versatility being embraced. Saddlebreds used to be 'the' all-around horse a few decades ago and I hope this small first step will help bring attention back to their true nature and strengths.

Enjoy.

cb LOVE IT!!! I love a good ASB. I've known some very nice ones. I would have one in a minute to ride and train. Karen Rohlf has 2 that she has trained on up. To me they are the American version of an Iberian. BTW I have loved your horse since when you first got him off the string, he very much reminds me of a horse we found for a friend of mine who turned into one of the nicest safest horses you could own.

Nice vids. Thanks for posting them. I always enjoy your progress reports on the training forum.

Thanks you guys. Willie is the best... he has been a true partner in this dressage Journey.
...and having been around Saddlebreds for decades now, I can tell you he is not an exception, he is very much the norm...we just got hooked up with some good training to learn this fancy dressage stuff... ;).

No, the horse in the arena is another really nice Saddlebred completely amateur owned and trained... placed 8th in I1 at U.S.National Dressage championships last year.
My horse is at about 19 seconds in, then a couple other times after...trainer is riding, I was still trying to figure out how to ride dressage (still am :P ).

I have trained quite a lot of different types of saddlebred and saddlebred x horses. ( national show horses ) There are lovely ammie friendly all round good ones, and ones that are so hot that one day they will kill themselves or you. I highly recommend them as a nice all round horse, so long as you test their temperament. do not buy sight unseen ;) lol

Well here is a fun twist to the versatility of American Saddlebreds.... :P

Yes, that is Keanu Reeves. He is filming John Wick 3, and that beautiful black horse he is riding is an American Saddlebred stallion...who was showing 4th level dressage last year. 8-)
