I wonder what they might learn as they study this specimen!

The ponies in the last few pictures at that link are almost perfectly spherical!

That is amazing. I love how you can see the little hairs on his nose and his little feet.

All I can say is WOW.

Agreed to the little hairs on the nose. Absolutely incredible.

Some intelligent and some very dumb comments on that article. One woman was saying it couldn't be "ancient" because prehistoric horses had three toes. Ummm......30,000 years ago - that is, I believe, the Pleistocene, the era of the modern single-toed horse. She's probably only off by a few million years on that comment. Another felt that this might disprove equine evolution. Some misunderstanding of the time scale in these cases, I guess.

ETA: I recall reading that they have determined that Prezwalskii (sp?) horse, long thought to be the only true "wild" horse has been found to be feral. So, if as some people suggest, they should try to create a clone from this (is that even possible? - shades of Jurassic Park!), I suppose THAT would be a truly wild horse? ;)

i love the close up photo of the nose . Magnificent preservation. With careful study of the stomach contents , if possible, it might show some information about the flora of the environment. Some of the comments below the line of the story were pretty thick-headed that is for sure
