Latest one - May 2021 - had a Badger for the first time ever, I didn't even know we have them! It was a quick run by, though.

An amazing parade of creatures, as seems to be normal at your place!

I always think of badgers as living in northern parts of the country, like Bucky Badger in Wisconsin! I was surprised when a friend who lives closer to the mountains told me they had seen one in their pasture here in Colorado. This article says that there are four subspecies covering most of the west and midwest.

Canyon - yeah, it seems they can have huge home ranges. Chances are that I will never see that one again, but one can always hope :D

I loved your recent update! Seeing a badger is completely amazing.

I wish we had a water source on our property---I think our sitings would be much enhanced.

Thanks :)

Yeah the badger was like a super bonus - never expected to see one. Maybe, just maybe there's another glimpse of it one day again.

And yes, water does draw them in more. Sadly it's been dry for a while now and water is not running across the waterfall any more at all (you can't see in on the video, but it drops off on the right side of the frame. If it doesn't rain soon it will probably dry up at the crossing completely :(

There is a small pool of water under the waterfall, and it has fish in it. It's really small, though, and a longer drought would dry it up as well. I've only seen it dry once, during a bad drought we had about 9 years ago.

Sadly I only caught the Chuck-will's-widow only twice this year - once in July and once in August. They're such cool birds, and I'm disappointed because they didn't come close to my cameras this year :(

Cool video. Just watched it. Twice! Once by myself, and again with Oliver, the Babycat in my lap. He sat and watched (and pawed at) the entire video as I explained all the reasons why he and his brother Tigger are strictly indoor kitties--as all those "reasons" strolled across the screen!

Poor ol' coyote with the injured paw :(. And those Three Amigos, dastardly denizens of the night ;)

Yeah, I usually have a cat helping me edit the videos, too - and he will paw at the wildlife, too, making my work harder.... :P

The injured coyote seems to be doing fairly well. I think she and her buddy the male with an injured hind leg helped decimate my chicken flock. I used to have dozens of chickens, and between the coyotes and the raccoons I'm now down to two. Snakes ate the eggs that the hens were laying all over the place, so no chicks. And now they're almost all gone. The last two have been secured to their coop / run, and they should be safe.

The limpy coyote is still there, loved the Turkey eyeballing the camera. The horse and coyote looked cool. I do like the racoons too.

Are coyotes and bobcats a threat to humans, or are they quite timid?

Canyon - thankies :)

Flight - Bobcats will run from people, they're really timid. Coyotes are a bit braver, but typically they also run as soon as they spot a human.

And yes, the limpy coyote is still around, and she looks to be in good health (weight wise).

December compilation - -

https://youtu.be/_qGkusTNO4M

And January --- for the FIRST TIME EVER, I had TWO bobcats in the same clip, walking close to each other, and a few minutes later, a THIRD bobcat showed up. I assume the third one (lighter color one, looks like he's keenly tracking the others) was a male looking for a girlfriend.

https://youtu.be/U23nyBLSvVM

I also made a short compilation of the few rare sightings of a Saw-whet owl that I've had over the years. I've yet to find one during day time; we only get them in winter as they come down "south" to warmer weather.

Thanks guys :)

I always wondered if we had more than one bobcat, as sometimes the one that I'd see seemed smaller than the one that was the "normal" bobcat. I couldn't confidently tell them apart, though.

Well, I guess we have three -- or more? :o

I know the males have large territories, so they roam around much more, and thus come around somewhat seldom.

I was so thrilled to see two of them in the same video, though, I texted my kids on the spot, and they're on the other side of the world. Beyond hyped and amazed! :P

Now my wish - as always - is to see more of them! :)

If you can get some good head shots of your Bobs, the face markings and dots can be used as Id , same with leg stripes.

that is one small panther you have.

Ooh, I just saw a bobcat today, midday on the back of the ranch as I took the horses out on a warmup loop. I've only ever seen a couple here even though there is so much open space here surrounded by barns and housing.

hoopoe - it's rare for me to get any daytime videos of the bobcats, usually the cams catch them at night. So, the coloring is really hard to see on the nighttime videos :(

The other thing is that they're a rarity overall - it seems the most usual pattern is to see one for a couple of nights in a row, maybe once a month or once in six weeks. Sometimes I go 5 months without seeing any, and that's with 5 cameras scattered around.

I've tried to make note of the leg markings, but I don't feel like I can still reliably tell them apart.

They should be nice to me and just wear bows in different colors so I can tell which one is which :D :D :D

I just need to go back to check all the old videos and see if I can figure out the markings.

Tanga - it's such a treat to get to see one. I've only been lucky enough twice in 17 years! The first time was a mama and a baby crossing the road about 2 miles from the house; of course I didn't have my camera with me, and back then my phone didn't have a camera at all. The 2nd time was in the yard in 2017, that's when I decided I needed trail cameras to see more of the bobkitties! They're such awesome animals :)

The turkeys were coming around on several days; the entire flock (30ish?) would also come in the yard and look for food under bird feeders, sometimes several times in a day. I just had to keep the dogs in so the turkeys could do their thing.

Then one day the turkeys opted to come in from between the barn and the wood shop, while the horses were there. The horses just watched them curiously, until someone (horse? turkey?) spooked, and then EVERYONE was running around in panic! Horse and turkeys went in every direction! It was funny, and nobody got hurt; I'm still laughing at it when I think of the view :D

I also have made some "Nature's Serenity" videos, which are basically just long(er) videos that have authentic sounds (birds, crickets), and nature view by the tiny creek next to us. There isn't much going on, but small details like small fish in the creek, a bird, a turtle maybe, or a single snake swimming by.

I was thinking something like that could be nice for a background, on a screen in an office or a reception area. Just calming, peaceful nature, they work with or without sound for a background.

Here's the first one

https://youtu.be/gfpvt3YFsqY

and the 2nd one, this one has a 2nd part to it, too

It's been very hot and dry here (Oklahoma) - we're on day 45 of less than 0.1" of rain. Today's temp is supposed to get to 106F.

So I put a couple of my trail cams to the part of the creek that still has some water left - the upper part is totally dry, but the lower part still has a little bit. I'm catching a lot of small, beautiful birds bathing and drinking with one camera, and I will probably make a compilation of those.

Then I have another camera that has caught some cool big birds near a very shallow pool --

The Pileated woodpeckers are really skittish around here, so catching one on trail cam was great because I can never catch one with my good cameras, they just won't let me close enough.

I made two compilations of birds only, cooling off in the very shallow part of the creek (no rain causes that....) -- some BRILLIANTLY colored songbirds there!
