My Third Level freestyle from last weekend

Postby DJR » Sun Sep 29, 2019 2:47 am

For those who are interested, I finally uploaded my Third Level Freestyle from the Ontario Championships last weekend.

It was a challenge to ride this, my third test of the day, without a whip (no whips allowed at Champs). I use the whip just to keep Jet’s hind leg active as his natural tendency is to get strung out. I usually train without a whip unless I need to pick one up, but at shows it does comes in handy just to have on hand — except at Champs!.

There were a couple of minor glitches, some “exuberance” in the first extended canter (down the long side), and my timing was off right at the start, but it was good for a score of 72% and change!

Most of all, JET ROCKS!!

Very nice. Congratulations.

Jet is such a beefcake (in a good way ;) ).

Nice job. You did the extra extended, so the extra large leap in the first one can kind of be ignored. I agree, the changes are good. You were late on the one to the right where you changed back to the left three strides later, but not really a big deal.

It doesn't look like you needed that whip.

Thanks for sharing! And I just read your other post about his ligament :(
I've never tried to make a freestyle and not being particularly artistic or musical I have just avoided it, but now at PSG level I think I should start trying. So, it's good to see other AA's freestyles, not just the GP professionals.

I did all the music editing with a free app (“Hokusai 2”), did my own choreography, and my own tweaking of both. It’s possible!!

I have been doing them like this for 30 years. I use audacity, which is free.

Thank you. He has quite a fan club at the shows. People make a point of coming to watch his tests, which is pretty neat. And, invariably, they comment on his size, even those who have seen him before. He has a very big presence, both physically and emotionally/spiritually!
