I'm looking for tickets for Friday and Saturday only. Anyone else going?

EDIT 3/9: Sheesh, I just realized it might be cancelled! No word yet, but lots of other major events are being cancelled. Alligent has offered to let me change tickets with no charge. Not refund, but change.

Ah. I was going to start a thread on this. I am totally going. I have tickets for all. Manni is coming from Germany to meet up with me and then we're driving there.

I'm almost 100% positive you can just buy any tickets you want right now. Saturday usually sells out, but probably not now. you can call Thomas and Mack.

Psst. If you don't care about big hotels with really long distances from one end to the other, there are some pretty amazing prices on rooms within walking distance. The Stratosphere was $27 a night, but that's too far. There are some little casinos and the D and a few other places for about $40 a night.

A friend and I have tickets for all sessions both jumping and dressage. We don’t have a hotel yet. I was waiting to find out where the shuttles would leave from. I’d prefer something within walking distance of a shuttle but cheaper than the strip. Most of the strip hotels are expensive and we won’t be in the room much! Anybody got the names of any hotels they’d recommend?

The shuttles are usually from the main hotels that are sponsored, which they haven't put up yet. MGM is the closest major one, but it's a bit of a walk, maybe 25 minutes..

All of these are walkable in 5 to 20 minutes. The Tropicana and Travel Lodge are closer. Best Western is across the street from the Thomas and Mack and next to the airport. Hyatt Place is across the street towards the strip. Red Roof in is a little up the street. Serene Vegas and Alexis Park are in the same direction. We stayed at Alexis Park last time. If you look on a map of hotels, there are a bunch walkable.

That's what I would do if I were doing all jumping and dressage because you're basically going to be there most of the time most days. https://www.kayak.com/hotels/Las-Vegas, ... ice=34-428

Thanks Tanga. I’m sort of in a compromise position. The friend is not a horse person, but doesn’t mind traveling and watching horse stuff. She would prefer to be near the Strip for those occasional times when we are not at the arena. I may have to give her the choice of the pricy room and the Strip or walking distance to Thomas and Mack. Last two Vegas World Cups we had a friend who loaned us Time Shares near the strip where we could walk to the shuttle. That option is no longer available sooooo. I’ve been waiting to see what the sponsoring/shuttle hotels are going to be. However, I’m getting itchy to get the reservations done.

This will be my fourth time. I usually just stay at the Motel 6 or the HoJo, both within walking distance. I think I'm going to wing it and try to grab a ticket outside the doors for each events. I had a guy GIVE me a ticket to the jumping finals in the high end seating. It was great to sit with his crew and get filled in on the strategy etc of the jumping world.

Tarlo--I'm with you on Hotel 6 or Howard Johnsons.

The closest "strip" hotel is Hooters, if you can stomach it. It can be super cheap--see $38 a night right now. There is a new one called OYO and the Tropicana, which are essentially across the street from the MGM. They are both walkable to the T and M (It's a good walk. Those blocks are longer than they look, but right there on what used to be the main corner of MGM, NYNY, Excaliber, and the Tropicana.

I'm also going with a friend who for some reason is desperate to stay at the Paris, for some reason unbeknownst to me. Not that I'm planning to share a room, so I guess I could stay where the heck I'd like, really.

Okay I just made my hotel reservations. They now have the sponsoring hotels listed on the World Cup web site. I’m assuming that they will be having shuttles from the sponsored hotels to Thomas and Mack, like they have in the past, although no one has been able confirm this. Two of the sponsored hotels are in the $200 a night range (by the time you add in resort fees), but the other two are more reasonable. In fact the South Point is $75 on week nights and $125 on weekends with a $14 resort fee for World Cup attendees. I know people who have stayed there for other horse events and said it was fine. Also parking is complimentary which is hard to get in Las Vegas these days if you are driving. So I thought I’d pass on this information.

If it helps anyone, I just stayed at South Point a few months ago, and it was nice! They have a horse center right there in the hotel, so who knows, maybe there will be an event there too that you can watch while sipping your morning coffee before heading to the World Cup :D

This looks so, so fun. Alas, WC is the same weekend as the Regionals for my kiddos so I'll be sitting in some midwestern city watching 300 little girls and boys in leotards while you chill in Vegas.

Now when I put that day, can someone tell me, again, why my kids aren't into horses?

Well, I will not be staying at any of the host hotels. It might be Hooters, which is cheap and fine. But, they are a good place to "cruise" the famous people. I remember the whole Dutch dressage team hanging out at the bar at Paris, Paris.

The first couple of times I went, SWANA had some really amazing presentations to go to (and got to see and talk to Kyra Kyrklund, Jan Brink, Minna Tilda, some amazing breeders) but I don't think they're doing anything. Does anyone know of anything going on while everyone is there that can be checked out?

I stay at the south point for archery event and it is a fine hotel. The Japanese restaurant there is actually very good I love the Oxtail curry.. They do offer shuttles up to the strip and free airport transfer ( book)

as usual with places like this where there is a casino attached, smoking gauntlet in the lobby.
full screen multiplex on site plus the usual pools spas etc. downside is the resort fee if you are not going to make use of which you wont encounteer at regular motels

If anyone is interested, I booked my hotel. I did not a lot of looking around. The Hyatt Place is literally across the street from Thomas and Mack on Paradise. Initially, it doesn't look reasonable, but if you have a group, it is. You can become a Hyatt member and get the longer stay fee for what averages total $150 a night. Most of the other hotels charge a daily resort fee of $25 to $50 which you don't see in the price initially.

We're just two of us, but it is two huge beds and a sofa bed and two rooms, so you could fit five or six people. It also has really quality breakfast every day and free parking, which can be another huge issue if you have a car. There are shuttles there that go all over regularly, also. No casino, which is a good thing for me.

Just thought I'd let everyone know.

I'm kind of in a holding pattern until I know whether, and when, DH is going to have surgery. I'll have to be around for the month afterward if it happens, by the sound of things...

Oh boy. I hate to say this, but I'm thinking they have to cancel. If the flight ban holds, the horses can't get here, let alone people coming to watch.

They cancelled Indian Wells, which is a huge tennis tournament. They are talking about cancelling Miami too, (tennis). I am. Wondering if they'll even have the French open.

Not to gang up on you, but I hope the Olympics are cancelled. The idea of all of those athletes falling ill? And possibly carrying it home unknowingly to share with their families? No thanks.

Plus, how are they able to train without possibility of infecting one another right now?

FEI World Cup™ Finals 2020 in Las Vegas Cancelled Due to Coronavirus
LAS VEGAS – March 13, 2020 — The International Equestrian Federation (FEI), United States Equestrian Federation and Las Vegas Events have announced the force majeure cancellation of the 2020 FEI World Cup™ Finals in Las Vegas. The annual equestrian competition, featuring the Olympic disciplines of showjumping and dressage, was scheduled for April 15 – 19 at the Thomas & Mack Center.

The decision was made in the interest of public health as the safety of attendees, competitors, exhibitors and staff is the top priority. While recognizing the disappointment caused by the cancellation, this is the most prudent course of action at this time.

All ticket buyers and exhibitors will be issued full refunds. The Las Vegas Events ticket office will contact all ticket holders on the process starting the week of March 16.

Further information on the 2020 FEI World Cup™ Finals in Las Vegas can be found at www.WorldCupLasVegas.com.

I hope they do, but if not, there are some cool things you can see there. My husband just got there today, driving, with friends for a Billy Idol concert, which I can't believe they haven't cancelled, and is sending pictures of empty streets and hotels.

There are many cool things to do. Red Rock is one of my favorite national parks. You're also about two hours from Zion, which is also lovely. I always check Atlas Obscura to see the cool things you can do. https://www.atlasobscura.com/things-to- ... gas-nevada
